"honey, i have had this thing for ages..." *beep* *beep* should we call the cops if we suddenly see you stop posting for a while?
i might have been kinda dense this past few years but has anyone wonder why the WISE is called the WISE 2086? i just realized that today: it the tension range. 20lbs -> 86lbs.
yup, althoigh mine (v11) goes down to 15lbs ... not sue of the max, never had the need to go up that high.
Yes. Version 11 does go down to 15lbs and the top end is still 86lbs which is more than enough for a lot of us.^^
I would love to grab a Wise, it's just too bad my machine is a drop weight and I can't afford to grab a whole new setup
You can go ahead and buy a wise tensioner for your dropweight machine. I've just done that A bit of drilling may be required but it is not overly complicated. Just make sure you order the drop weight bracket.
So after four months of playing around with trying to get consistency out of my tiny stock crank tensioner, I finally moved on and updated to the WISE 2086. A worthy mention of thanks to Dennis Yeung of GLP Sports in Hong Kong, whom I dealt with regarding this purchase. My original machine is similar to kuwn's AEF OEM although mine has stock plastic supports and has a floating mount system. As kwun has pointed out, the stock height of the turn table is too short for proper clearance of the WISE 2086's head, so Dennis contacted the factory and customised an adapter for my machine. Compared to the original: With this adapter, my turntable is now at an exact height above the WISE gripper and I have the convenient 360 rotation (pictures to come soon). Dennis also sent the dimensions of my machine's steel foundation bar and had an adapter for the WISE to sit on without having me to modify my machine like kwun did. And here is a picture of my Armortec racquet strung to 34lbs ECP with my new machine: I will post more pictures of my machine when I can find a good background to match
O/T, but is that a Superbrands Armortec? If so, what are you doing a) Stringing it, and b) Stringing it at 34?!?
Lol, I think WISE should pay BC a % for every tension head sold because of these forums. They probably sold like 6 just last week from these forums, and that's not counting people who don't post to show their brand new toy
It is one of the best iterations of the AT700 old gen, being pretty light and manoeuvrable and also very snappy and powerful, reminiscent of the MP100 (but significantly head heavy). I confess my addiction to the AT700 old gen
Sir, the cost of the unit itself (including a diablo and stock mounting adaptor) is default US$500 worldwide. The two custom adaptors for my machine cost about US$25 each.
Thinking of getting my own stringing machine to string for myself and friends rackets. There is a EX-2600-DC Stringing Machine [MAC-EX-2600] on sale for CDN$1200. Is that a good price? Thinking of learning how to string on the crank first. Then add the WISE 2086 later. Will the WISE fit on the EX-2600 with little modifications?
That is an okay deal. Best part is that you don't need to deal with shipping expenses and you get to inspect before buying. If it's the one I saw on Craigslist and kijiji, that one is owned and located at Yumo pro shop in richmond and is trustworthy. You could probably order a brand new one online for $1300+shipping, so you saved a few hundred. Unless you you really want to learn crank or money is an issue, there's really no reason why you shouldn't go ahead with the wise head right away. When we ordered our mutual power, we strung with the crank once just to make sure it was working and it's been sitting in a drawer ever since the wise head arrived a few days later. Took a brief look at the machine and the wise head should bolt right up without issue. The main swivel plate looks slightly raised on that machine due to the disc brake system, so might have a slight downward string angle, but others use it like that and its fine.
Thanks Optiblue. That was the one I was looking at. Money is always an issue when you got a wife and kids and a mortgage.
