President hopes athletes can win gold Musthofid, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Sports | Tue, July 17 2012, 9:25 AM Paper Edition | page 20 The Indonesian team is bound for the London Olympics with the modest expectation that they can keep up the tradition of winning at least one gold medal, as they have done on every occasion since 1992. “We have won a gold, silver, and bronze medal in every Olympics. Hopefully, the athletes can keep up the record,” President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said, receiving athletes at the State Palace on Monday, as reported by Antara. The president warned against being too pre-occupied with the one-gold target and urged them to be focused on the game to perform their best. He cautioned against being overawed by higher rated opponents. “Human beings have both merits and defects,” he said. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Read more : http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2012/07/17/president-hopes-athletes-can-win-gold.html Talking about the Olympics, badminton has always been the only hope to present gold for INA people, other sports are still far behind from world class standard...
..any words on any special incentives if one of the players/pairs can bring back a Gold medal? such as a land, house, bonus money?..or a big surprise is on the deck if one of them can bring back a Gold medal?..
Weightlifting has contributes at least a single medal (silver or bronze) at Olympic start from Sydney 2000. They hope for the first weightlifting gold in London 2012
Rp.1 billion cash bonus for gold medalist To turn bronze or silver into gold in weighlifting is an uphill task, China should be hot fave here, let's see whether it will be realized in London Weightlifting targeting 3 bronze medals in London, taken from KOMPAS.com : http://olahraga.kompas.com/read/201...esi.Pasang.Target.3.Medali.Perunggu.di.London
Yes you're right, it's definetely very hard to get gold. I remember some months ago red an article about Eko Yuli Irawan who got bronze in 2008 and gold medal in World champions few years ago, said this time he want to grab gold medal. But because he failed to reach his best lifting target compare to his opponents best from CHN and PRK then his target is change to bronze http://www.bola.net/olahraga_lain_lain/eko-yuli-irawan-ragu-raih-emas-di-olimpiade-e91786.html At least INA weightlifting is not far behind from world class standard
Yup, disaster for INA badminton. For the first time none of INA shuttler through to finale and automatically gold medal tradition ended here in London Hopefully, Towi/Liliyana will deliver bronze today! The worst scenario is badminton can't bag any medal if they lost to Danish pair :crying:
No medals for Indonesia... But still have faith for INA badminton and big hope for the juniors. It might be the end of an era but for the risen of the new ones
I'm pretty sure INA has a lot of potential talent. However, can PBSI really guide those talent to become real champions? In the past 4 years there is no real world class player coming from the national team. What make us think INA can produce champions in the next 4 years? My question to forumers who knows better about national team and PBSI: are there any significant changes within PBSI recently? Can INA really rely on them to produce champions?
Nobody is scared of Indonesia now given their current results from London. The people you all should blame are Setiawan/Kido for screwing your medal chances. They could have qualified but they do not want to. They messed up Indonesia big time.
