Just before the 2009 European Team Championship, Nathan Robertson reportedly questioned Robert Blair's commitment to England and demanded that Blair be dropped from the English squad. That erupted into much more than a simply personality clash.
Fun chit-chat.. ..hmm, last time, it was George (not sure if it was our george@chongwei or not) who made his presence felt in the Live Chat...This time it was our ants firing away with 4 questions; didn't know ants is a closet-Nathan Robertson fan..
I was doing some work... then Raph msged me thru MSN about the live chat. Just making it more fun.. Dont think Nathan knows it was me...the person behind Ants.
Not wanting to be disparaging but how many people joined the Live Chat? How can 1 person get 4 questions in just 1 hour Alternatively Ants could be the new Michael Parkinson (Search if you don't know what I mean) BTW what were your qustions?
Nathan Robertson Fuss with Robert blair? Hi! I've heard that Nathan Robertson and Robert Blair had a fuss. Can someone tell me what that was about? Very curious^^ And If you have the link to the articel plz link!
I have posted the actual story in case the link dies............. The TimesFebruary 10, 2009 Feathers fly between England team-mates Nathan Robertson Richard Eaton Nathan Robertson, the most successful player in England, has launched an outspoken attack on Robert Blair, a team-mate, on the eve of the European team event that is being viewed as an important step towards London 2012. Robertson claims that Blair, who changed allegiance from Scotland and won a world silver medal, lacks commitment to the England team and that their differences have affected the squad. Robertson requested that Blair should not be selected and said that he considered pulling out of the tournament, which starts in Liverpool today. “It seems a crazy decision and I have spoken to the coaches about it,” Robertson said. “Situations occurred in previous events where myself and others were not satisfied with Robert's level of commitment to the team. “It's only one player, but it causes problems because others know about it. You can't have comfortable team meetings or open discussions or team meals. They have picked the best possible players, but in a team there isn't room for tension.” Related Links Jenny Wallwork a chip off the old block More strings to Gail Emms’s racket Emms and Robertson bow out amid sea of tears Blair claims that Robertson, his one-time men's doubles partner, who is a former world, All-England and European champion and an Olympic silver medal-winner, has tried before to have him removed from the England team, adding that because the management is now standing up to him, he was going public about their differences. “I am an easy person to pick on - I am Scottish,” Blair said. “He [Robertson] doesn't like me, so I don't bother him and then I can't be upsetting him. “We have personal differences, that's fine, but they should be put aside for the team. As for not giving my best to the team, I have always given my best and I don't see how anyone can question it. I think it's quite preposterous.” Ian Wright, the England head coach, denied that the row affected the whole team. “These are personal issues between people competing against each other over many years and sometimes you can't come into a team and be all buddy-buddy,” he said. “But we have been successful before and we can be again.”
