    yes,i disagree
it is not koo/tan who dropped like torpedoes
it was other pair had catch up to their standard and even become better

    if koo/tan dropped like torpedoes
then u mean the level of md in 2006 and 2008 have no different
    but
we can see that the md field have drastic improvement in term of speed, power, tactic and skill

let see which is more reasonable
case a,they did drop like torpedoes
which mean they playing at 130% in between asian games 2006 until swiss open 2007
then drop back to 100%,hence get defeated by many other pair after swiss open 2007
mean the level of md doesnt change in between 2007-2010

case b,they didnt drop like torpedoes(hope u understand my figure)
which mean they play at 100 between asian games 2006 until swiss open 2007 while other at 80
after swiss open till end of 2007,other top pair is at 110 while koo/tan is around 105,hence the winning rate is about 50%
in 2008,other top pair is 130 while koo/tan is 115,with less improvement, they left behind(so called downhill)
in 2009,other top pair is 135 while koo/tan is around 128,hence 4 title
in 2010,their figure is about the same(around 140)
    which mean
    the 2010 koo/tan can beat 2007 cai/fu with 21-10,21-10
    while the 2010 cai/fu can beat the 2007 koo/tan 21-11,21-11

saw the bigger picture or u still think they drop like torpedoes?
    peace

When we talk about 'down-hill' I think we are refering their 'Ability to Compete' not their level of play.

In professional sport when ones do not improves enough to be able to compete with others like during their good old days is considered as 'down-hill'.

Generally, the level of MD has improves tremendously in terms of speed, power, skills, tactics and accuracy comparing 2006 to 2010. If ones who were on top in 2006/2007 loses their grib to hold on their top spot because of others are improving fast and being left behine, that means their ability to compete international level has drop....in this case KKK/TBH did dropped like tropedoes especially in 2008 and 2009 compared to 2006/early 2007.

You might be right. Have Fang Chieh Min/Lee Sheng Mu gone downhill or is their game becoming predictable and easily read by their opponents now?

It means that if you post the news in downhill thread is bad news. Since there's a 'comeback trail' or uphill thread, the good news supposed is go there ;):D

Ups and downs are quite ususal for sportmen, the main thing is how fast, how strong in your come back and how consistence after your come back.....for example FHF/CY, very fast, strong and very consistence after their come back since 2006 AG lost...KKK/TBH slow and steady but not strong enough.

Next, we will see how LYD/JJS's come back in AG.....

their ability to compete drop because other pair improved the level of play.
try to sketch a graph with what u say
if koo/tan did dropped like tropedoes,u mean they are rocket in 2009 and 2010?

Yes, that only showed how inconsistence they were....!

I dont say they are rocketing up in 2010, I would say they are on the ups of a roller coaster ride......lets see how they perform in coming AG.....whether its still on the 'ups' or already downs after WC, CWG..!

    hmm
people do feel the flatness when they stand firm on the soil(small view)
but the earth isn't flat(bigger view)

if they were only roller costering (small view, maybe horizontally)
they will drop from 1st class to 2nd and then lower and lower because everybody is going upward

    so,applying ur word
i think they still roller costering upward(from bigger view)
    which mean they still improving

    how about this?

at this age, BAM or the technical coaching committee should check their weights. When they win something, all these weights, stamina, strength and what nots have to be taken to maintain it. I am not sure if they have the expertise. ;) Once you win something, it is not easy to win it again. So maintaining the physical being is important. ;) Is BAM reading this?

its rather simple to explain all these torpedoes, rockets, roller coasters without any scientist!

when any pair is on top and become champions,

    all eyes are on them,

through video and tactical analysis, training and drills are formulated to break them apart

and in most cases it works

unless those that reached the top, trains even harder and trains smart!

kkk/tbh shouldn't be considered going downhill or they lost their torpedoes

they are still there, hovering in the top 1 or 2 spots!

we should be happy they are playing for malaysia

and try to understand there are so many outstanding pairs from indonesia, denmark, korea, chinese taipei, japan and china.

all trained hard and target them when they reached the top. imagine those pressure!

the competition is in fact very tense and players from each country has different style of play and tactics and god knows our coaches have to sleep dreaming all those plans for them, guide them and working their axx all for a piece of paper contract.

believe me, its not easy for the players themselves, trainers and coaches to maintain where they are today.

As expected, they lost to the japanese pair once again.. Didn't learn much from their last loss to Japanese pair.
Before the match, i already 100 percent sure they won't win the match;) i also paw the japanese pair:D

The Koreans used to be the hardest rivals to beat among the Chinese, Indonesian and the Danish pairs

but now quite consistently some Japanese pair comes into picture

Oh gosh Japan is very near to Korea geographically,

I think they must have stretched their necks over the Korean border

    and learn something :D

Or maybe coach park jb turned them into full time turbo :D

They may be top 10 still, but honestly they are struggling.

Like someone mentioned, it uses to be Koreans (namely Ko/Yoo) that gave them trouble, now everyone gives them trouble.

Why is it that Koo always feels the need to play fancy ? It's great when you are 19-10 up, but when you are in an important match, and it's 17-17 there is no need to play through the leg defence, or trick shots. Or even lie in the floor for no real reason. Sure it's good to watch, but you need to get the job done.

It's disappointing, they have shown everyone that when they are at their best, then they are fantastic, and can beat anyone. But inconsistency is really starting to kick in. They have shown to bthat they can throw away big leads, and ultimately lose matches.
