This is just a reference guide to whoever's out there that's thinking of getting these awesome base clamps

As some of you may know, the Gamma website does not list the actual dimensions to either of the two of these base clamps.

    Gamma's website lists
MQAC-10: For upright machines (w/ suspension mounting system)
    MQAC-11: For progression 2 or 5003 (w/quick mount)

I thought the 11's were meant for lower profile machines, which is at least what I thought progression 2 is. I have an Eagnas flex 940 stringing machine so I thought I would simply get the ones that DinkAlot's got (MQAC-11).

Upon receiving them, they looked way too tall for the application.
    IMG_3754(2).jpg

I contacted ATS cause I thought they might have sent me the 10's even though I got billed for he 11's. There was no way of telling which ones I received because there was no model number stamped on either of those base clamps.

Turns out the order was correct. Bummer

I thought I'd start this thread so the next person ordering doesn't mess up their order since ATS/Gamma does not list dimensional specs on their websites. I even asked ATS why and they simply said they don't want their competitors using Gamma clamps(pffffft:rolleyes:...)

    So here goes ...
    Dimensions

MQAC-10: 3 1/4" tall from the base (short)
MQAC-11: 4 1/8" tall from the base (tall)

I hope someone will learn from my mistake instead of making their own. I ended up taking my base clamps to a machine shop and have them trim it down for me. These are awesome base clamps, I have not seen any slippage at all and they're are very smooth to operate. They are on the expensive side but well worth the investment.

    Happy Stringing!

Thanks for posting the information on the gamma clamp height. Would it be possible to also get the thickness of the slotted steel plate underneath the clamps? It looks about 1/4" in your photo. Also, what is the width of the slot?

Did you solve the height problem by trimming the top of the MQAC-11 clamps or did you have another solution?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi David,

Thickness if the slotted steel rail (where the base clamp rides on) is ~ 11/32"

Thickness of the frame (where the slotted steel rail is mounted to) is ~ 3/16"

Width of the slotted rail is ~ 9/16"

I just took it to my machinist and had it milled to the height of the MQAC-10 spec (3 1/4")

Hope this is what you're looking for

    GL

I hated the quick actions so much that I ordered the switch action for my Progression ST II. Yep, a 400$ upgrade for a 400$ machine.

However, I got lucky and got them both for about 250$ and I love them.

With the Quick Action Base Clamps, you have to put a lot of effort towards locking the base clamps every time, so much that it actually makes your turntable move a lot.

For the Switch Action base clamps, yes. They got for 200-350$ EACH everywhere.

Last link is Open Tip, for some reason it's censored. Cost is 290$ per clamp there.

Even directly from the distributor, it would have cost me over 700$
After looking, it was more along 350$ that I paid than 250$ <.<

I think you're either talking about the quick action clamps, or you're one of Gamma's staff and got a 75% rebate lol.

OK, just strung 5 racquets using these GAMMA bases. OMG!! Aside from getting a WISE and the Michal brackets, these are one of the most economical upgrades that you have to have.........changes everything now. My machine is flawless!!

Just to add.......the Eagnas clamps fit more snug and have less play in the GAMMA bases. A huge improvement......I love it.

I don't get what you're asking........distance between the arm that holds the side mount to the turn-table rail?
