    Hi
I wonder anyone here has ever played against a top ranked player (world ranking), and how many points you got??
I usually play MS and i have played against a former world no 34 (MS), got 6 points against him:D. I have played against a dutch female player too..i think she had a silver medal from EC..she was good enough to beat me 15-1 and 15-0 :D:D:D

So don't be shy, tell us

I'm not sure what his world ranking was but I played against the Canadian National Champion 8 years ago and lost 15-0, 15-0. I was ranked 78th provincially at the time.

I've played against the best players of my club. But those arent very high on the world ranking. But then again... I'm not even on the national ranking yet, since I havent played in any offical tournament yet. I've only been playing badminton for about 2 years now, so I'm not that good yet. I'm gonna play in my first official tournament in a couple of months though.

i have played against kevin cordon of Guatemala before losing 13 and 12, played against many of the Canadian international players both singles and doubles. but kevin would have to the the highest ranked singles player i played being ranked 46th in the world currently.

If Dink ever posts here, he would probably say that he's played against many top ranked players. Tony Gunawan, Halim Haryanto, possibly Taufik Hidayat, etc.

The number of points you get can be misleading as most of the time, the Pro is going to let you, play easy, maybe even let you win if it's for fun. :p

If competitively, Panda thinks only a couple here can even say they are "competitive" at the professional level, if at all. Even then, the Pros know they are superior and will not go all out, they will just play patiently, defensively.

Anyway, this is a nostalgic type of post for Panda as Panda's "played" (played meaning friendly, fun, not in competition) with and against quite a few professionals. Let's see, a few notable ones:

    All doubles:

Halim Haryanto Ho: numerous times, won a few, lost a few...OK more than a few. Best result: *barely* beat Halim and VTec101 with SCChang. Halim paid for dinner. :D:D:D 2nd best result: Halim and Panda beat Oldhand and SCChang. :p Just kidding Bobby!

Howard Bach: won once, lost twice or three times. Howard just toyed with Panda. :p Howard is too fast, explosive, skilled, you name it.

Bob Malaythong: lost twice. Too fast, too explosive. :D

Alex Liang (Liang Qing, at one time Top 10 in XD, Top 20 in MD): played numerous times, won a few, lost many. Best win with Coach Alex: beat Mona Santoso and Coach Don Van (Panda got real lucky). Best win against Coach Alex was twice, he played with GuavaWang and Panda played with Ba Su (top amateur), were were down 4-14 and came back and won in the tie-breaker. The other time, old scoring up to 21, Ba and Panda were down 8-18 and came back to win in the tie break, unbelievable, don't know how we did it but we did. :p

Played with against many other once ranked in the world players in the world and the outcome is the same, Panda loses of course. :p

Had a few chances to play Tony Gunawan but opted to watch instead (silly Panda!). As Panda gets back into badminton more and more, he'll have more opportunities to play top players...and get beat. :D

yeah he basically said that I was doing well and gave me a few points as to where I was going wrong and gave me some advice as to which shots to use more.
I had pretty much given up hope of playing badminton in like proper competitions ( like rournamnets that top 50 in the world enter) when I am older but when casey told me that he only started playing when he was 14 !!!! I was amazed:eek::eek::eek:

I'm so jealous. I would love to partner any of those top ranked MD players.
