I'm looking to start using feather birds and wanted to know a good place to get them for a decent price in Vancouver, BC in Canada (either locally or shipped here). I have my eyes on the RSL Classic shuttles, which I've seen on Yumo's shop for $23 a tube, which seems reasonable, but I'm curious if I could get it for a lower price. If you have any recommendations on locations (or even, other birds, since I'm really only going for the RSL Classics by recommendation), that would be extremely helpful. Thanks!
Yumo's price is quite competitive... especially if you get a box of 50 (I think), it becomes $21 each.
I buy my shuttles from Yumo. Typically RSL Classics and HangYu Tournament #1. Will probably get a box of 50 tubes of RSL Classics once I save enough money. My friend doesn't like the HangYu (complains that it slows down after a few hits). I think it's $1050 + tax for a box of 50 RSL Classics. I've bought Chao Pai Red shuttles from some shop (Dunrite Sports?) in Richmond. Comparable pricing with RSL Classics. Pretty good shuttles.
CanucksDynasty Funny... as I occasionally play with the owner of Dunrite sports with his Reds and I much prefer HangYu #1... more crunchy, durable, stable.
To each his own. I don't mind the HangYu #1 since it's cheaper. Good value. But my friend doesn't like it.
I can't be certain cuz I didn't jot down the prices of the HangYu #1. I usually just buy a few tubes at a time. I think one tube (dozen shuttles) was going for $21. For 50 tubes it works out to be $19/tube or something like that. I've heard rumors that people were getting it for even less.
At 19 bucks a tube, unless he has bulk prices for buying large quantities of 50-tube boxes, he isnt making much per box. Buddy went to hk and scoured the city for shuttles, the best price per box of rsl classic with shipping and duties came to about 17 per tube.
HangYu #I I get for $18 per tube. Because I know of some contacts who get them in container loads directly from China.
I use HY #1 as well. Don't take much advice from me though as I am still freshly returning to this sport...just always remember to steam. Such a big difference.
Which would you all recommend? HangYu Tournament #1 or HangYu Tournament #2? Difference of $4 per tube. $19, and $16, respectively.
I think that would be your personal preference. I never tried #2 so I can't provide a good comparision. But I have tried Yonex AS20, AS30, AS40 and AS50 shuttles. Yonex AS30 is the lowest grade of a shuttle that I would want to play with. So I try to find other shuttles that are comparable to the AS30 or higher. Like everyone else...I also keep a tube of old used birds to practice with.
I haven't tried either. Guess I'll have to purchase both before designating which will be my go-to shuttles.
Also consider your friends as well before you bulk buy. If nobody wants to play with the feathers you got...then what the point in getting them?
#2 is lower quality... less durable, less crunchy Get a tube and decide for yourself if the $4 savings is worth it. It wasn't for our group.
