Pei Tty-Eei Hui over the moon 2009/12/07 WONG Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui retained their women's doubles title in style by frustrating Denmark's Kamilla Rytter Juhl-Lena Kristiansen in the World Super Series Masters Finals at Johor Baru City Stadium yesterday. Pei Tty-Eei Hui posted a 21-17, 21-14 win over the Danish pair in 33 minutes to secure their second title and the US$42,000 (RM142,000) winners' cheque. The Malaysians, who had lost to Kamilla-Lena in the Sudirman Cup in Guangzhou in May, had their confidence boosted after beating the Danes in the preliminary round on Thursday. Kamilla-Lena could only trouble the Malaysians in the early stages of the game but Pei Tty-Eei Hui were solid at crucial moments. Pei Tty said she and Eei Hui were fully prepared for the event and this was the reason for their comfortable win in the tournament. "I would say that we were well prepared and kept very patient against Kamilla-Lena in the final," said Pei Tty. "We have achieved two of our targets but the more important assignment is the Laos Sea Games (next week) where the situation will be entirely different. "When we won our first gold in the Sea Games in 2005, it was unexpected. Now everyone expects us to win, so the pressure is there. "We have lost to our main rivals from Indonesia (Nitya Krishinda Maheswari-Greysia Polii) in the Singapore Open and we have to go all out for the gold this time." In the Sea Games, Pei Tty-Eei Hui have an easy draw and are expected to meet Nitya-Greysia in the final. The men's doubles crown went to South Korea's Jung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae who defeated Denmark's Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen 21-15, 21-15 in 46 minutes. It was Jae Sung-Yong Dae's fifth title of the year and they also made amends after losing to Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong in the final in Kota Kinabalu last year. Denmark's Joachim Fischer Nielsen-Christinna Pedersen won the mixed doubles crown, beating India's V. Tuesday January 19, 2010 Eei Hui-Pei Tty out to end another long drought DOUBLES specialist Chin Eei Hui was among the shuttlers honoured in an award ceremony last Saturday for ending a 34-year gold medal drought for Malaysia in the SEA Games women’s team badminton event. And she has a quick chance to add another feather to her cap with partner Wong Pei Tty in the Malaysian Open, which will begin tomorrow at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil. If the duo emerge as the champions, they will be the first Malaysian pair in 45 years to win the home Open women’s doubles title. The last Malaysian winners were Rosalind Singha Ang-Teoh Siew Yong in 1965. And Rosalind is also the last Malaysian to win the women’s singles title, which she achieved in the same year. Eei Hui may be ambitious but she is realistic about the chances with Pei Tty in the Malaysian Open. “It was a big honour for the women’s team to win the Olympian award for the breakthrough performance at the SEA Games (in Laos last month). But the challenge in the Malaysian Open is totally different for us,” she said. At the Games in Vientiane, Malaysia defeated Indonesia in the women’s team final and the achievement was worth the Olympian award from the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM). Besides Eei Hui and Pei-Tty, the other members of the team were Wong Mew Choo, Ng Hui Lin, Woon Khe Wei, Sabrina Chong, Lydia Cheah and Sannatasah Saniru. In the Malaysian Open, Eei Hui-Pei Tty are drawn in the same half as China’s world No. 1 and top seeds Ma Jin-Wang Xiaoli and they are tipped to meet each other in the semi-finals. World champions and second seeds Du Jing-Yu Yang of China are in the other half of the draw. “We have never beaten this pair from China. Our first meeting against them was at the Malaysian Open Grand Prix Gold in Johor Baru last year and they blew us away,” said Eei Hui. “We played against them at the Japan and France Open after that and gave better fights. I think we can beat them if we play to our true potential. Ya, the sad thing is BAM keep their money for so many years. Just like their ranking money, they only pay the ranking money to them after few years. But they have to pay the income tax for that first and get the money in future. Anyhow this is the way BAM to control them from quiting BAM and join others country.
