if i put a 4.2 gram tungsten tape on the head of the racquet, the BP becomes 321mm with overgrip on.. w/o overgrip it might be 330mm..

should i try it? and risk the potential shaft damage? :X

The racket is solid enough imo.

Yes, but remove the tape if you need to make a warranty claim. :p

@vajrasattva
Well, remove the original grip and put only single layer of overgrip on top of wood,
you already have the BP at 320mm...

Grips have (almost) absolutely no impact on the swing weight of the racket. So changing the grip just to change the BP will have no effect whatsoever.

It's just a number change for the sake if changing something...

Removing grip is not the same as putting weight on the head. Putting extra weight on the head increases the racket's momentum, removing grip doesn't. A thinner grip will make anything feel heavier, though.

When did a 5U and 6U exist; it's it just F? I think you're you are referring to G5 and G6 instead.

Sorry if I've been wrong.... I'm just going by other information I read on this thread.
Check post # 156, page 10

Also, check this: (mentioned in post #129, page 8)
http://www.yonex.co.jp/news/2013/02/1302181300.html

Perhaps, yan.v can provide some more info on this... :)

Looks like you are correct. I was going by the Yonex JP catalog which I have.

It seems that the catalog is is written incorrectly since it doesn't mention about the 5U/6U, just F. Looking at the website, it seems to show all.

6U is the logical code for 73g following the current codes. 3U=85-90g, 4U=80-85g, 5U=75g-80g, 6U=70g-75g.

Yonex tried to introduce a new racket weight class called 'F', which is why it is written like that in catalogs and ads. It is however listed as 6U on the price list.

Both are correct.

Arcsaber FB was initially released under F category (average = 73 gr)

YY JPN then declared in late January, that there would be 5U for Arcsaber FB for March 2013

I read some news in their website stating that the release of 5U was based on public demands in JPN domestic market

Ah, great.

Thanks for the info. Now this begins to make a lot of sense. Hmm maybe I should take a gamble and get a 5U and test it out. I guess I have to get a G5 since no G4.

I would most likely get a G4 CD coded which would essentially be F.

5U may play very differently from the 6U, depending on the weight distribution; I'd feel it would be more even-balanced than the 6U.

A G4 grip size could be available in 5U since the weight may permit it...

Not sure what to make of the highlighted part of the quote, Matt... ???

I was saying the CD coded rackets is the F/6U.

The weight should be able to permit it because the 6U is available in G4 in CD and some other country codes as well. 5U would be possible but the question would be weather other countries would be able to get it unless it's JP only.

I asked a few moments ago to the Yonex Canada dealer. The dealer will inquire to Yonex Canada to see if it is possible to get the 5U if minimum quantities is met.

Grip size doesn't affect wt and bp.

Because the handle
is drilled in the middle core to remove
excess wt, so a thicker handle will just have a larger hole to compensate.

I am fully aware of this. The feeling and handling is different using different size handles to the user however.

Since my hands fit G4 the best, I would get them in this size as opposed to smaller sizes since I don't quiet get the same handling feel; I could build them up but it isn't quite the same thing.

Finally got to play with the FB tonight. Absolutely crazy defence! Some have said they returned shots they can't normally. Thats would be a complete understatement.

30% loss in smash power with 300% better defence works for me. Maybe my old VT80 just didnt suit me for defence. VT80 stays in bag for now.

1 minor clash with a leftie tonight, slight loss of paint. Might need to get 1 more for backup
