I think they would be a good canidate because we are only playtesting string. Different playing levels would also be good canidates, doing a blind string test. I would like to use Different stringers on same machine. A second test would be different stringers on different machines (Same racket same string same tension) can all use same calibrator to calibrate to. Then Kwun could see differences in machines and stringing abilitys.
this sounds fun actually, I have been stringing for couple years. I always want to know where I am standing and my skills level. What do I need to know and learn more about string.
AK, AT, JC, DC, KY and Kwun can be test stringers. Can USE ES5 Protech in Newark, CA Kwun maybe see if Z badminton would be willing to let us use their court to playtest , find a day and I will see if I can get the rackets. If Kwun can set it up as a FAIR Person 60% done already.
I can talk to zhou liu from Z tomorrow night and see which day is less crowded, so we can use the court without bothersome... and...we can go eat after we do all the testing, since there is some good place to eat around the block and some open late... let me know if Z will be your place to do testing, but I do think BBC will be a better place since Ben is more friendly...haha
pattern? the racket has certain gormet that takes 2 string (cross/main), and ones that takes 1 string (main OR cross), as long as you fill all of them, it becomes a bed, there's just 1 pattern stringing the main from inside out then do the cross.
haha...thanks alan, I guess I will be the inexperience one out of all . but I am exciting to meet everyone....looking forward, looking forward...
Stringers I would like to use would be Kwun, Alan Tam, Kevin Yamaguchi, Derrick Chen, Jarold Cordero, Me Playtesters maybe Zenas Lam, Hao Jin, whoever else Alan T can think of.
I haven't have anyone to strung my racket for a long time, derrick chen(the young one??)...I used to give him one or two pointer when he still work at Z, jarold...didn't know he string rackets, but I used to do his. Never see Zenas string. Jin...I am not going to say much.
sounds like a stringfest in the making! i would also like to do a comparative stringing session. with Alan and i doing the same pattern, same tension, maybe him on my machine, and i on his machine? see if i can get the similar playability as he does. that will be a good learning experience. scheduling could be tough though as thanksgiving is coming up and i have work piled up to my eyebrows.
Okay, please take photos and videos (YouTube purpose) . . . Remember soft drink, ice cream, pizza and good ole fart (eh, I mean laughers) make the best StringFest 101 !!!
this stringfest is gonna be fun. anyway, we do need find a time where everyone are able to make it in the first place. I think we should make this meet either every 6 mos or every yrs, that way we can improve each other skills level and share new technics.
String Fest 101 Yo it doesnt have to be this month, December would work or even January. BTW Alan, I was thinking Zenas and Hao could be testing the rackets not stringing. I dont know Kwun level, Avg per year but I would put in order of rackets strung: Alan Kakinami this year @1000 rackets Kevin Yamaguchi @650 rackets Alan Tam@ at least 175+ Derek Chen at least 100 Jarold Cordero maybe by the end of the year 30 Kwun??? Can this be done?!!! I would love to do this!!
well...I won't be able to make it from 12/18-1/5, I'm gettin married in Hong Kong... So I won't be able to make it... but ak, your over all numbers will probably up to 25k+ tho... there is like no match...haha
haha, i've seen and played with rackets strung by you, and i wish i lived close enough to your shop so that i could get my rackets strung by you instead. i have no doubt in your stringing prowess.
