True, but for defending, usually the one on the backhand side can generate more power.

Usually supination is faster and more powerful than pronation.

I agree. No, I haven't played that many 'real' intermediates and advanced doubles yet. I have only started taking lessons.

My coach is teaching from Richmond, Canada.

I think the purpose of the patterns wasn't so clearly established, but I think what it was supposed to help me with was to help me be able to predict shots and how to react. Your thoughts?

Thanks! I was going to start a thread asking for some patterns to do this one " isolate and attack the weaker partner."

I'm just curious, but if you're smashing shouldn't your partner be covering you from the front. How does the shuttle fly to the middle?

Simple. The shuttle goes in the middle if it fly pass the frontcourt player.

Your partner can only cover at the front if only you made a good smash or the opponent made a bad return.

Good returns have 2 kinds. The 1 that lifted to baseline again. High n deep. Another 1 is a drive which pass the frontcourt player n yet did not allow the backcourt player to smash again. You'll be forced to lift the shuttle

I see. Thanks for the reply! I guess the middle could be when the opponents are standing front back and middle is referring to the area between the two person.

Exactly. By my experience, which was a total beginner in 2011, once you know how to take the advantage of placing the shuttle in such position, your game is gonna improve a lot in instance.
