It's Cheam Jun Wei, saw his name in local tournaments. But in Malaysia, there's another 13 going on 14 yo kid who has better results, Indian guy

He reached BD semis of 2010 100 Plus junior National GP

We were just talking about Loh Wei Sheng earlier. At the 2010 Kedah Open (22-July), Loh Wei Sheng defeated Cheam Jun Wei quite easily; 21-12, 21-11 in just 20 minutes.

What do you expect, Cheam is 13/14 while Loh is already 19 this year :p
I don't think LWS is in contention to be MAS no.2 yet though... maybe a 2 or 3 more years..

My personal take would be LWS. He is (so far) Mas best bet for a replacement for LCW but its still a bit early to say that. He has the playing style that suits the 21 points system and most importantly the stamina (endurance) to last the pace. On top of that this guy did well academically, which means he has the ability to absorb knowledge faster than others = intelligence which many of our players lacks.

Btw, how come Iskandar is not in your potential list? Personally I think Iskandar better than Arif

Ohh, now I remember abt Cheam JW, he's the 2010 Penang Zone winner in BDU14. Could be senior Mr Teh's(LCW's 1st coach) student ;);)
LWS is AJC runner up leh, if he cannot beat a 13 y.o junior....speechless.

Hahaha, I just mention the Indian guy, he pulak lost to Cheam in 100 Plus BDU14 finals. R. Sathiesharan, Selangor player, trained under INA coach before joining BJSS.
So, for MS, in 4 or 5 years time, we'll see some glimpse of the next up & coming talents ;)

I think iskandar has performed well so far but I still feel doubtful for him especially if he got to play in the final day match... he might succumb to pressure which I hope he can improve on in the near future...

He has like disappeared from the international stage, the only 2 or 3 times I remembered seeing his name last year he lost in the first or second round... MAS GP I remember he lost to Chan Yan Kit. Not sure about the other 2 times, maybe thats why he didn't leave much of an impression on me.

Iskandar is another potential. Given proper guidance he will shine but where would it come from? The only hope in BAM right now would be under Hendrawan. As for Zulfadli, he has 1 very big problem = stamina. This was always discussed among his dad and those BJJS coaches during the Asian Juniors Championship. These 2 players together with LWS are the future flag bearers.

My knowledge was that Zulfadli Zulkifli was spending more time (over the last few years) in school/books, rather than in Badminton training.

Now that he has finished school, he should be able to have more time in training to build up his stamina.

Partly its true that given more time on training one would be able to improve his stamina. But my point here is ZZ stamina level itself was quite weak in high level competition. On the other hand, LWS did spent a lot of times on his studies too (he scored 7/8 As in PMR if I am not mistaken) and showed superior lasting power on the court that sent Thailand's top junior Pisit totally flat out after their 3 matches battle at last year's AJC.

Saw him (Iskandar) play against Tian Houwei in 2009 AJC final. His lack of stamina has got to do with the way he plays. He has the talent no doubt, but he lacks the patience to slowly win the points off his opponent. His aggressive style of play is taking a toll on him if his opponent has a good recovery and defence. In the end, he gets tired himself and start to lose confidence.

TCS is too injury prone, not much time for him to catch up..the rest..talented but lack the mental strength, probably it is time take them out from Rashid's stable put them under a different coach for a different approach.

Exactly, which is why we must go back to my point :p
Loh Wei Sheng shouldn't be included now precisely for that reason!

No disrespect to Hendrawan but I`m sceptical as his ability as a coach......he might have been a world class player during his prime but coaching is a different field as he is still unproven. Speaking about that, I sincerely hope that he`ll prove me wrong
