At the 2013 Swiss Open, Yui HASHIMOTO is playing Ratchanok INTANON [5] in the Semi-Finals (right now, as I type).

HASHIMOTO has just won Game 1 (at 21-19).

I am quite impressed by HASHIMOTO's skill.

I thought we should start a thread for her.

More info about Yui HASHIMOTO is most welcomed here.

Hahaha...... Just because I am watching her match against Ratchanok INTANON right now.

BTW, Ratchanok stepped up 1 gear, and took Game 2 easily.

    Current score is:
    Game 1: Yui HASHIMOTO-Ratchanok INTANON: 21-19
    Game 2: Yui HASHIMOTO-Ratchanok INTANON: 10-21
    Game 3: Yui HASHIMOTO-Ratchanok INTANON: 06-11 (interval)

But Ratchanok INTANON is just too good.

    Final score:
    Game 1: Yui HASHIMOTO-Ratchanok INTANON: 21-19
    Game 2: Yui HASHIMOTO-Ratchanok INTANON: 10-21
    Game 3: Yui HASHIMOTO-Ratchanok INTANON: 13-21

2013 India Open SS: Yui Hashimoto defeated Saina Nehwal in Round 2

    .
What a surprise when I found out that Yui Hashimoto has defeated Saina Nehwal, the tournament No.1 seed, in Round 2 at the 2013 India Open SS yesterday (25-April).

Here is the results link : http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx?id=10551ABF-E70A-4BA7-BBED-FF88F6793E7E&draw=4

Can any BCers give us the youtube link for this match (how Yui Hashimoto managed to defeat Saina Nehwal)?

Not really a youngster, is she? Going on 23 this year ...... bloomed a bit late in the international scene, but that explains how well she could handle her nerve to save those matchpoints.

Yes, I would like to know (and to watch) how Yui came back when she was 17-20 down (in Game 3) to defeat Saina 22-20 for that match.

Yui has some creditable results with her victory over Jiang YJ and Saina, but I don't think she can climb up very far because of her age and height (1.52m ??)
There are many new WS talents in the circuit now, and I think speed and height gave some players advantage.
i am surprised that Yui beat Sindhu in 2 sets in their previous meeting, but here in India (1 month later), she lost in 2 sets to Sindhu.
She may be in top 30 by 2013 year end as she has the skill, but lets see if she has the luck and the necessary breakthrough this year.

I'd barely heard of Hashimoto and never seen her until this week.

    So far she's beaten;
    Porntip 21-11, 21-14
    Sayaka Takahashi 21-13 21-13
    Li Han 21-18 21-18

She plays Marin in the SF tomorrow and I see no reason why she can't beat her too. Would likely face Shixian in the final.

Here's her match vs Li Han

japan seems to rolling out so many very good WS players, its just matter of time before they find someone good enough to consistently challenge top-top players
