Hi All, May I know what racket is she using nowadays? The black n yellow Li Ning racket. Kindly advice. Thanks
Normally I'm not too particularly concerned about world ranking but today I can't help but notice that Wang Shixian has shot up to WR No.2 replacing Intanon Ratchanok. Absolutely well-deserved. In a way, this is testament to WSX's amazing run of successes lately, her return to top form, her renewed status as one of the very best WS players at the moment. Precisely, the way she played, the opponents she beat - Intanon R and Porntip B twice each within one month no less - and her appearance in three successive SS finals winning one of them, the French Open, made her more than worthy of the No.2 world ranking now and, at the rate she is going, who knows, she might rise to the No.1 spot in good time. All this wouldn't be so notable if not for the fact that little more than a year ago, she was struggling with plummeting form and prolonged depression attributed to that fateful London Olympics deselection and it went on for more than a year, threatening her place in the CHN national team or even to cut short her badminton career. For her dismal performance to remain at rock bottom for so long and then to suddenly within the space of the last one month to rise from the ashes and soar like a phoenix in resplendent fashion is, to me, nothing short of a phenomenal feat meriting the highest praise. Assuredly, she has set an excellent and most encouraging example for others in similar distressing, seemingly hopeless circumstances to follow and take heart, in that it is still possible to make a great comeback as long as one never abandons oneself to despair but willing to stay the course.
Scenes of WSX's last few tournaments flash to my mind. I recall seeing how coach Zhang Ning and WSX interacted and communicated with each other, their body language during the intervals and immediately after the final matchpoints were settled and then the players shook hands and WSX ran towards her coach(es) in triumphant celebration. So good to see the mentor-student or coach-player or teacher-disciple relationship has improved so much when in the past it was once rumoured to be strained. Also heartening to see that WSX's fitness is superb nowadays, since when was the last time we can say this of her I haven't the faintest idea. Instead I vaguely remember reading somewhere about an occasion in the past when WSX was rumoured to have complained of tiredness after losing a match (to Lu Lan in a certain BAC event) for which poor excuse she was chided by her coach Zhang Ning. In fact, it was reported that LXR after narrowly beating WSX in the CHN Open final last month, exclaimed to the reporter at the post-match interview literally:"... Wang Shixian's running ability is too strong...." (those were LXR's exact words which I have translated as 'WSX's court coverage is too good.') In conclusion,I believe WSX's improved good working relationship with her coach Zhang Ning and her own self-discipline in serious physical training are two other supplementary factors that contributed to her great comeback.
At the SSF'13, I was at first, after the group stage redraw,a bit worried we might not get to see a LXR vs TTY match as I originally thought WSX has the ability to edge out TTY again in the semifinal. Now with the benefit of hindsight, I say there would be no loss as TTY was simply outclassed by LXR in the final. Perhaps a LXR vs WSX final might be a better match, more of a climax. Objectively speaking, I consider WSX more skillful in rallying and stroke play as well as retrieving ability than Tai Tzu Ying whose superiority lies mainly in her attacking play, particularly in her smashes. In that WSX vs TTY semifinal clash, WSX unexpectedly and shouldn't have lost that match when holding 4 matchpoints in the rubber which she unfortunately failed to convert and even lost the deuce after a spectacular, desperate saving shot by TTY- a cross court net return executed from a very low position in a dive - which probably shocked, dazed and rattled WSX to the extent that she lost the next three points in quick succession that cost her dearly. It is deja vu when we recall the same situation occurred to WSX at the last East Asian Games WS Final where she lost to Han Li when 6 matchpoints up in the decider, couldn't convert, then lost the deuce and the match. I hope WSX learns well and draw valuable lessons from such experience to keep herself focused, tighten her game and not let up or lose her bearings or relax too much at crucial moments. She has the talents and is a smart, thinking player. I've no doubt, as long as she continues to persevere which she seems to be doing, she will go from strength to strength. Btw, I saw her on TV , the way she posed before serving, shuttle raised by one hand and racquet held high by the other, remained at that stance for a few seconds, let out a yell, and then serve - that scene is to me a joy to watch, beautiful and amusing as well. A great girl with a unique style of play; a delight to watch nowadays (though I still wish to see her improve on her offensive shots, specifically, the smash).
oh my girl has won every tournament.. salute.. amazing shixiannn sory all,i just get exam,so just now i can read this hello uncle justin
Hello, azrenth boy, we are indeed overjoyed to see Shixian back to her best, in her all-conquering,winning ways again. She is now truly a force to be reckoned with and may she go on to scale greater heights henceforth. Tactically, I'd still wish to see her improve on her smashes further and be more forceful, esp at crucial moments. WSX, JiaYou ! azrenth boy, your undying faith in and unwavering loyalty to her has finally begun to bear fruit. Just when one by one is beginning to forsake her, you continue to stand steadfast in your support of her. I salute you!
ofcourse uncle.. but i lose my weibo account so i can't send her private message oh my god yapz.. my girl.. oh my girlfriend.. i think she good enough.. darling, hope u get recover too soon amazing ^^
hm..yapz.. im agree with u uncle.. in critical moment,i think, she little worried, and then get down.. shixian,i will there for u.. dont be worried.. u re the best ^^
Yep, Wang Shixian must be very pleased, nay, it's her good fortune to have die-hard fans like you, azrenth boy. Watch out for her performance in the new year , beginning next month with the KOR Open SS and the MAS Open PSS. In the KOR SS , she is the top seed in the absence of her WR1 colleague LXR. But in her half of the draw, she is slated to first meet Tai TY in the QF, followed by Wang YH in the SF, before another possible showdown with Intanon R again who is likely to sail into the final unless waylaid along the way by the rising Spaniard Carolina Marin or her senior compatriot Porntip or the tricky KOR opponent Sung JH. Wish Shixian a resounding start to the new year. Go for it. JiaYou !
In Round 9 of the CBSL on 28th Dec 2014, Wang Shixian playing for Jiangsu beat Intanon R playing for Qingdao, 2:0 (11-9,12-10) resulting in Jiangsu winning 3-2 against Qingdao in the group match. http://sports.qq.com/a/20131228/005843.htm Looks like Wang Shixian is becoming the nemesis of Intanon Ratchanok, for now it seems.
hope shixian can do it permanently hahahaa ^^ she is very strong. i have her fb but,she not accept me in friend >.< oh darling.. u're so cute.. hm.. i will there for u shixian (>////<) wahhh tai tzu ying again..
http://www.bwfbadminton.org/news_item.aspx?id=81084 China is only allowed to field two players in Singles for the Olympics. What are the chances you think that WSX can make in 2016?
Almost no chance, she isn't better than WYH or LXR. And by 2016 i think Sun Yu has a good chance to be a contender as well.
I don't think WYH will be around for the next Olympics. Her body looks like it will not be able the injuries. So I think WSX will have a decent chance for representing China at the Olympics. But just like LXR, you never know with China. Another girl might suddenly come through the ranks.
