Really interested in these shoes but it seems shuttle-house is the only place that has it... Can anyone point me in the direction of a shop that carries them?
I wish to buy it in a real shop in Melbourne. Stadiumsports does not have it yet, and the shop seems ...
You folks are thinking the same thing I am. Shuttle-house is expensive. And they are so honest with package labelling (God bless their souls) that the Canadian customs agents are happy to slap on a healthy textiles tax -- in spite of the fact that Canada doesn't have a domestic textiles market to protect anymore. It is probably a matter of time before these shoes filter down to other stores in other countries. Until then I'm trudging along in my aging SHB- 80W's .
I don't think they will be released in non-JP version just like the 81 wasn't either. The obvious other place to look is Rakuten but even with a "Canadian" edition of their website shipping is probably EMS. Has to be Shuttle with Air Mail and hope for the best . The 81's are on sale now and I'm still liking that design better and saw no obvious improvement in the tech spec for the 82's . So you could also consider that one ... So far I've been "lucky" even with fair value on the label . But of course I have no experience with the Ka-na-de one ...
Mine has just arrived at the post office from Shuttle-House. Once I pick them up I will test them and post a comparison to the SHB81WMD
The tiny 3E sized SHB200EX and SHBSC5EX just do not fit our true 4E sized wide feet. 'Nuff said. I have posted an illustrated physical comparison between the SHB200EX and SHB200WMD JP. The EX shoes are just that impossible to compare in terms of fit.
Hmmm... I see, do you also have flat feet (ie. fallen arches) and if so, are you wearing custom orthotics to support the medial arch? Because if the arches are well supported, then the feet won't be so flat and wide, ie it'll go from a 4E to a 3E.
No, I have a mid arch profile which according to my doctor may not benefit much from orthotics anyway, but will need such 4E shoes to fit into. The JP wide shoes have an especially wide front toe box, which fits the wide front profile of 4E feet. It is possible that your feet are not really that wide especially at the front like a 4E foot to start with, thus you being able to settle with the EX shoes. Honestly from my experience, the SHBSC3EX and SHB102EX have a rounder and slightly wider front profile compared to the supposedly wide EX shoes you recommended.
SHB-82 Wide [Mid] So, here is a look at the SHB82WMD: Side by side with SHB81WMD: Stock insole comparison (81 on left, 82 on right). The 82 now has the new "half wave" insoles like the SHB65FT: So far I have worn them (with socks of course) and done some shadow badminton to get the feel of having them on. Compared to SHB81WMD, these new ones feel slightly more flexible and less cramped up even though the fit is similarly good (my shoes are 27.5cm in size). I have yet worn them to play a real game. Last but not least, here is SHB82W: Both 82's side by side:
Can you get this angle for the 81's as well? And one of the bottom/soles for both? Thanks for the update! And and 81<->82 like this
thanks for the pics. really nice. Do you know where I can buy a pair in Australia? Also, do you think the mid-cut is better? My last SHB-200 is of size 26.5 (or 25.5--26.5? forgot)
I bought these two from Shuttle-House. You could also try Rakuten. I do not think you can buy these by physically walking to a store in Australia.. The difference between the two cuttings is that with the low cut model, the tie off point is where the ankles are and this gives relatively more range of movement to the feet due to less restriction to the muscles around the ankles. With the mid cut model however, it secures the said muscles around the ankles and prevents them from over-stretching and thus gives relatively better stability. Which SHB200 are you using, sir? If you mean the locally available SHB200[EX], and that you can wear them without feeling the front side of your feet getting cramped up then your feet are not wide and will not benefit much from these shoes (please look up to the relevant posts). But if you are wearing the SHB200[WMD JP] then the same size should suffice.
Thanks a lot. Really helpful. I bought SHB-200 two or three years ago from a local shop in Melbourne. I didn't know there are EX and Wide versions. Mine is probably EX version. It was OK but I feel now I would feel more comfortable if I wear the wide version. Anyway, really appreciate your info.
Here you go: As for the bottom soles, the pictures are easily available at Rakuten.co.jp and yonex.co.jp so I did not bother
