And Wong Choon Han did fill in for MD's a few times. But imagine if both LD and TH were paired up and given time to sharpen their combo, TH in front of the net and LD at the back killing stuff would be very good to watch!
1. Mia and WC's individual skills are way superior than most of their opponents (single or double) in UC. 2. Mia and WC do practice double games with their partners, but not just wake up and randomly pick one teammate and get on. Therefore, Mia and WC's case of using regular double partner (even though they are more focus on single) against way below their standard opponents are totally different than the original topic. I will say, on the same (or very close) standard, 2 randomly paired top single players can NEVER beat a well proven pair of double players.
Yeah.. ..it'll be 1 vs. 2, just like in practice..LinDan plays the first 11 pts and then Taufik finishes the following 11 pts or vice versa..
In reality, the best single player that good when playing double is Liem Swie King when he partner Kartono.
Liem Swie King / Christian Liem Swie King / Kartono Liem Swie King / Icuk SUgiarto Liem Swie King / Bobby Ertanto Liem Swie King the four combinations, in my opinion, LSK / Christian is the strongest....
Juniors and seniors are as different as red and coffee beans - they both grow on soil but red beans are made into confectionaries and drinks, while coffee gets marketed worldwide in overpriced styrofoam cups and movie product placements.
I have another scenario in mind - the top-4 MS players form two pairs and play against each others. What kind of combination would bring us a balanced competition? I assume the No.4 MS player is Gade (I don't want to have two players from the same country anyway, so BCL and CJ are not considered). LD and TH seem to have personal conflicts according to what the media has reported. If that is the case, they shouldn't play together. What if LD/PG vs. LCW/TH?
Hm.. LD/TH vs. no. 1 MD... I'd say LD/TH would have a puny chance of winning. I think they're not used to play in pair and because of that, the no. 1 MD pair would easily beat TH/LD. Playing in MD requires teamwork. Plus, I don't think they could communicate well together ( Lin dan barely speaks English ) As for PG/LD VS TH/LCW... The latter will probably win because they can communicate well compared to PG/LD. Well, that is of course, my opinion.
Let's think about the other way around. IE. KKK play single against any top 30 MS, anyone think he will stand a chance? I doubt it.
