I've been wondering for some time, but I never asked, and I searched the forum, but couldn't find anything. My racquet is a Muscle Power (Yonex) 21, it says it has: 2U G3 21-23 lb What does this mean?
2U is most dense material, 3U is medium 4U is less G3 is the gripsize, its the biggest if im not mistaken, G4 is medium G5 is smallest 21-23 if its written on the handle is the recommended string tension range, but you can go above or below that
U stands for the weight..the smaller the number, the heavier the racket. Range from U to 5U..but the most popular is between 2U to 5U.U is too heavy, hence rarely seen.. U(95-100grams)2U(90-94grams)3U(85-89grams),4U(80-84grams)5U(75-79grams) G for gripsize. For most of the racket brands, including yonex, the bigger the number, the smaller the grip. But some of the brands applied it upside down.Range from G{1},G2,G3,G4,G5,G6.. The common used are the G3,G4,G5.. Tension numbers stated is just the suggested. For yonex, going above the suggested tension would make the warranty void. But actually a racket can go far above the tension range given.
What is this.. like the 4th time or something in 2weeks that somebody asked what the U's and G's mean.. Maybe Kwun or any other mod should make a pinned/stickied thread on what the U's and G's mean.. and lock it.
sqdd same question different day......... is normal for newcomers......... minijumbuk, welcome to BC..........
