A casual fade at the net by LD and HH is a beaten man. 21-9 HH should have taken it in G2 but a combination of carelessness and LD hitting the turbo put paid to that.
At first i thought Lin Dan will give in this match to give chance to his compatriots to win the title in a no-question way while conserving his energy for coming Japan Open. Yet it seemed he changed his mind and turned into the turbo mode in the middle of the match [well, just a pure speculation anyhow]
That's the problem with WSX: no attacking play. Looks like she hasn't changed or improved her style of play to incorporate an attacking game so as to be a complete,all-rounded player as Morten Frost has commented about her twice before. I've got a strong feeling my idol won't get past Cheng Shao-chieh or Juliane Schenk when they meet later (I wrote this after knowing the outcome of this match against Fu MT).
Yup, somebody please teaches her how to smash. That's why her main rivals are not afraid to lift the shuttle against her, knowing it won't be coming back thundering down, only needing to anticipate her drop shots or clears, so predictable. Even on the rare occasions when she does smash, it's more of a placement shot with no power. If only she learns how to attack and smash more...
"doesn't need to smash"?! You forgot how she was trounced by Tine Baun's ferocious attacking smashes during the recent SG Open - that's how the great Morten Frost coached Tine Baun to defeat her i.e try to force Wang SX to lift the shuttle, then smash it down hard without bothering too much about accuracy, just keep it within the lines. After that match, Wang SX admitted as much, conceding she had no answer to her opponent's powerful smashes. Wake up, Wang!
