haha. i know. i am terrible. i was sitting at home, all done with preparation, and just cannot wait to deploy the superduper new server. i was like a kid staring at all the toys under the xmas tree!
^^Hmm, i think..^^ ..kwun was a bit excited & couldn't wait to transition BC to the new server...thus the early BC shutdown.. Btw, the only thing different (which is very minor), i notice, is the smilies icons are now jumbled up and are not in the same spots as before... .. Other than that, BC is lookin' fine..
As a frequent emoticon user, I had noticed that... ...but thought it was a Mac/Safari quirk (my office machine is a Mac). As usual, ABCD has the answer ------- PS: Isn't the loading time much faster now?
^^Ehm, they are now...^^ ..eehhmm, i noticed kwun just did a quick reset; even that was very fast, i didn't even notice it, until i saw i was already kicked out....hmm, kwun, you must be trigger happy tonite, pressing those buttons, aren't you??...
earlier on, they are not... now, yes, there in same spot and order of 3 X 4. kwun, how long will i be log out automatically if left without any activity?
I bet that was easily solved.. ..aha, kwun must've gave the server a nice little tap, a kick here, and a kick there...problem solved
muhahaha..... i think of it as just under 1/6 of 100,000. that's a scary though, as that means i make almost 1/50 of all posts in BC.
we also have Brandon and Justin to thank. as they gave me tons of quiet time to do the upgrade. Brandon had a 3 hours afternoon nap, Justin had 1.5 hours.
^^Makes sense..^^ ...3 hrs + 1.5 hrs = 4.5 hrs, hmm, I think that's about right, as BC was down about that long also...Thank you Brandon and Justin for going to sleep in the afternoon, instead of.............now!..
how can kwun jumped so fast....... from 16,666 to 16,835 169 posts in few minutes and, where are the other 167 posts...?
^^Only applies for kwun..^^ ..did you know, 1 post may equal to...eerr...83 posts?!?!..in actuality, kwun only has 8000 and some posts..
i was looking back at the historical specifications of previous BC servers. BC managed to grow processing power pretty quickly over the years. 1998: some 300MHz Pentium3 that was also my desktop workstation in graduate school. 1999: slow Celeron on a shared server with 200 other hosts 2000: dual 300MHz Celeron sitting on my company's network. 2001: 1.7GHz Celeron dedicated server 2003: 2.4GHz Pentium4 2004: Dual 2.8GHz Xeon 2008: Dual Quad-Core Xeon.
i type really fast. i just went and did some maintanance of the post and forum counts. sometimes the post counts gets out of sync with reality.
