This is my VT LTD gripped in Karakal PU Super Grip. Question, is it ok to use the Karakal PU Super Grip as an overgrip to my original grip? I know it's meant to be a replacement grip but I just love the feel of it. It feels good in my hands. Thanks!
If it's truly a replacement grip, it'll have a strong adhesive backing that will damage your original grip.
^ he won't be comfortable when he finds out that removing the replacement grip will tear pieces out of his original grip.
I didn't remove the original plastic wrapping on the grip, so I guess it won't matter too much Anyway, I usually wrap the original grip with cling wrap before I apply overgrips for my other rackets, just to avoid moisture seeping in.
Two layers of white RKEP G11 with half overlap, without the original grip, finished with Nitto tape. Love it. I'm such an equipment nerd.
Can you teach me how to do that kind of grip? You didn't use a tape at the end to keep it in place. It looks neat.
Pretty easy. Just start with the broad end at the handle butt. Then wrap with some tension until you end up with the tapered end at the cone. The tapered end is where you'll find an adhesive tape that can stick onto itself to finish. There's a video on YouTube somewhere.
Another player friend asked me to bring his racket to my stringer to string. Here's a pic of his VTZF oem grip... he doesn't use any overgrip. I'm sure I can culture various species of fungi and bacteria from there! Remind me to never shake hands with him after a game.
i string rackets mainly for myself and a bunch of middle age women from my church, and i kid you not, there was once i picked up a racket from one lady right after she played for a few hours, i had to let the grip sit and air out for a few days before i could get close to it because it was soaked with sweat and smelled like my badminton shoes after a 4hr session. so gross.
Here's mine, tried a lot of over grips, replacement grips but i always seem to keep coming back to good old Karakal PU supergrip. Great for sweaty hands and last a reasonable about of time and as I think a lot of people may do, ditch the tape that comes with any grip and use electrical/nitto tape instead.
