Yeah, the place is pretty nice. Very similar to the All England feel. Everything is a little slower, but it feels nice. The lights are a little bright, but it wasn't too bad. The venue is relatively dark all around where the audience is, but the courts are lit up significantly.

I guess that's why LCW & co. were spotted in the McD :D? Or were they closed as well that one day?

Does anyone have Maximilian Koreny Contact information? I noticed he played the Vietnam Grand Prix. He tried to qualify. I also noticed it was the 1st tournament he played in like 5 years. is he living and training in Vietnam? I would like to talk to him about it.

Honestly, I don't think McDonalds had any intent on closing. I left a little after 2pm so I guess it was still open even though the police told everyone to close shop :p

Unfortunately, I do not think I will upload anything from the World Championships. The last thing I need is to piss BWF off and have them constantly monitoring my channel. I had to technically sign an agreement before I filmed to use footage for training purposes only, so I don't want to be denied a camera pass for the next event I go to.

On a slightly brighter note, we had a local (National) level tournament this past weekend, so check out my blog for some more details and links to the matches in the finals. Features:

XD: Toby Ng/Grace Gao vs Dan Kai/Sun Yang
MS: Jacky Ruan vs Alex Pang
WS: Michelle Li vs Christin Tsai
MD: Adrian Liu/Derrick Ng vs Toby Ng/Dan Kai
WD: Joycelyn Ko/Grace Gao vs Alex Bruce/Michelle Li

I don't think he is living and training in Vietnam. I do not know him too well, as he does not even compete Nationally most of the time. I would imagine that he's living abroad somewhere, but I don't know where.

Sorry for about a one month hiatus, a lot of us were in Guatemala and Brazil in September for the International Challenges. It's been fairly good results for most of us and I hope we are getting closer to breaking through to the next level, or at least making an attempt at it. Special recognition goes to Michelle Li, who triumphed over all her opponents in both tournaments! Fortunately for her many fans, I have a lot of her footage (yes, in HD as well) so be sure to check out her matches! I have a lot of other footage of the other Canadians, but I'll leave Michelle in the spotlight for this one cuz she really does deserve it :)

Anyway, sorry for the delay, but here is my blog posting for the 2011 Guatemala International. I will do the Brazil one very shortly (because I've been typing away for about 2 hours now), although all the matches for both tournaments have been uploaded onto my YouTube Channel.

Enjoy! :) And as always, thank you all for your support!

A totally rivetting account of your adventures in Guatemala, thank you ever so much, Toby! I'm sure the positive energy that you guys put out also had some small part to play in Michelle's groundbreaking success (Go Michelle!!! :D) and here's to many many more top-of-the-podium finishes for Michelle, and you, and Grace and all of your great team!!!

I think I speak for all of us Canadian badminton fans when I say truly, we are honoured to have such a great, spirited bunch of people representing Canada in so many diverse spots on the badminton map. Couldn't have asked for better! :):):)

You know, I probably am posting in the wrong section because we aren't technically "Professional Players", but there's no "Amateur Player/Athlete" section, so... oh well...

If you want to read about the adventures of a Canadian amateur athlete, then please read about my tournament at the 2011 Puerto Rico International, featuring other Canadian athletes in various media including some match videos and assorted pictures! :D

I don't know... I guess for most of us, you're professional enough! :D:D:D
...and that goes for your blogspotting abilities as well!! Thanks for another hugely absorbing read! :)

Well, your performance is on a professional level - so we'll let it count ;)
As always, a nice read and enough pictures to get a good idea of the conditions :)

Canadian matches from the 2011 Hong Kong Super Series and 2011 China Super Series Premier are up. I taped a bonus match, one from each tournament (non-TV court) :D Check out my channel for the matches! (All the matches I have are currently posted, sorry, but that's all I have) Blog will be up shortly... hopefully... now, off to Macau!

    Good Luck in Macau!
(On the court, that is. Don't waste your patacas on the slot machines!)

Toby, a lot of us have been following your blog. It's a nice read and personally, I have enjoyed it very much.

    Good luck for Macau.

Here are some pictures of yourselves in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, I couldn't get everybody due to work commitments.

One thing that has struck me is how polite you all seem on court...perhaps showing a little more aggression on court won't go amiss! :D
