Sindhu is playing in the qualifiers round at the Korea Open. She will first face Maria Febe Kusumastuti of Indonesia. If she wins, eh will next face (most probably) Adrianti Firdasari of Indonesia. If she wins, she will face Petya Nedelcheva of Bulgaria in Round 1 of the main draw. If she wins, she will next face Wang Yihan of China. This should be a good workout for her. I hope she goes through to the main draw, and then does her best there.

Although I have been following her through the news for quite a while now but never got the chance to see videos of her playing... I finally came across one and I am really surprised by how well she plays although her physical fitness is a kink that she needs to iron out quickly now that she in top 40... She seems to be a genuine top quality player who, if nurtured properly, can become top 10 player within two years. Some douche bag on this thread keeps looking down upon on her for some reason I don't understand... that person keeps saying she is nothing in front of Inthanon and other young players... I think Inthanon is natural born talent and came in to the senior circuit much earlier than she should have... nevertheless she has beaten almost all the top 10 players yet she is very inconsistent. She may be ranked 13 currently but if you look at the number of tournaments she played (23)... If she plays like that I don't know how long will her career will last.... Even Saina was not as good as Inthanon at that age yet she is in top 5... Different players grow at their own rate, you cant really compare as to who is better at this young age... Even Inthanon will her own time to get to top 5.... we just have to wait and watch....
I think you're being overly optimistic to think Sindhu can crack the top 10 in 2 years. I think Rat is way ahead and better than Sindhu and yet is still plagued with inconsistency. She has yet to reach the top 10 either. Sindhu will make the same mistakes when she joins the circuit full time; that's to be expected. She may take a little longer to hit her stride but that's OK. As long as the coaches understand her development and manage her well, she will eventually get there.
Exactly! Totally agreed ... Sindhu will certainly make some mistakes at this age and will have inconsistency. It all depends on how fast she learns from them. That's the key. You are right, she being from my country I may be a bit overly optimistic about her. But I would love to see her there rubbing shoulders with the likes of Inthanon, Porntip and Hyun if not with the Wangs' of China (which I think is far fetched dream ).... I think 2 years is a good enough guess which is way better than writing her off completely unlike some people saying she is not worth discussing about. If that was the case you wouldn't respond to my comment now, would you... I compared both their rankings and I was surprised how long Inthanon took to reach 13 being such an awesome player (way better than Sindhu) and if you see Sindhu's climb to her 31 (current) then you'll know what I am talking about. Sometimes the faster they rise the faster they fall... I hope that's not the case here... But what ever it may be, the real test for Sindhu starts now. Indian players may not be as good as their top asian counterparts (except for Saina) yet but they will be in 5 years down the line. In this case I am optimistic, practically not overly. I hope, someday, India produces a bunch of players, not just one or two once in a blue moon, who are equivalent to other asian shuttlers.
I agree with you. Indians are doing good but they are very inconsistent ( P. Kashyap, Jwala/Ashwini, Saurabh Verma for example). Sindhu for the time being is playing well except for the recent slump in her performance during World junior Championships and China Open..... Correct coaching and Media should be blamed. There is constant pressure on Indian athletes, like Saina, to do well. Even a slight slump in their performance draw criticism from media, who have now started to compare her to Sania Mirza....... I hope sindhu prepares herself mentally for all these expactations as she is already been proclaimed as the successor to Saina Nehwal.....

Wow! With that frail body I don't think she'll able to go any further than where she is right now.... She really has to pick up her physical strength otherwise it'll be very hard for her to survive...
Guess a very balanced script and totally in agreement, even I gave some unfair comments for PVS but that was basically out of frustration, I just want this girl to dominate the world ,which I think she will in due course, 2 years is a perfect time period for this girl to develop.

3 games again, same result! Sindhu has been yoyo-ing a bit, of late. Now she has been left out of the squad selected for the BAC 2012. She is however, in the main draw for the India Open SS, and her first match will be up against TTY!! I hope she has learnt enough by now to be able to overcome TTY.
Another match against TTY in round 1 of the India Open, and this time, Sindhu springs a complete surprise! She beats TTY in straight games, and quite easily from the scoreline, 21-17 21-19. Either Sindhu has suddenly found the magic formula, or TTY has had a very off day... In any event, congratulations to Sindhu. The next round however, will be an even bigger test. Korea's Sung Ji Hyun lies in wait for her in Round-of-16 , and she ain't no pushover, with a WR 11 and seeded 8 at the India Open.
2012 India Open SS: Round-of-16 . Even if Sindhu cannot defeat Korea's Sung Ji Hyun in Round-of-16, Sindhu has done well. I believe that, with Sung Ji Hyun's experience, Sindhu will need to play at her best to defeat her. .
