Don't forget Xu Chen the XD player who was hospitalised for gastritis during the HK Open 2012, despite which he fought on all the way to the final while having to shuttle between the hospital and the tournament arena until the final when he and his partner Ma Jin emerged runner-up for which the prize money was USD13,300 shared between them of which a certain percentage went to his own pocket. Obviously he was doing it for country and exhibited remarkable willpower and praiseworthy fighting spirit and dedication to the sport so much so that Li Yongbo held him up as an example worthy of emulation.

As for Li Na , she was praised for her pluck and persistence despite her defeat in the final of the Australian Open during which she suffered two dramatic falls. But here comes the other noteworthy part, look at the prize money:

The big interesting question is : if you were Li Na, would you play your guts out in that final to try and win USD2.43 million as opposed to USD1.215 million? And need I say she is an independent professional player who gets to keep all her winnings?

Then it begs the question: If you were Xu Chen?...

So what's the moral of the story? Draw your own conclusion but just don't be hypocritical about it (and end up despising yourself one day for your ulterior motives). Well, some things are better left unsaid. (Hint: my point is not directed at Li Na). That's all for me.

All the comparison of prize money is not irrelevant. The important is the bold part. No matter how much prize money is being offered in badminton, as long as the players are not independent, it is different than tennis.

In tennis, there is no tit-for-tat Li YongBo who would hit back when he did not like BWF rules. Not that I condone tit-for-tat.

    2003 events :
    2004 events :
Only 7.6% and 5.9% when BWF quite fair to China. in total for 2 full years (2003 to 2004), only 9 w/o or ret when CHN vs CHN in 130 matches, means only 6.9%. I already proved my words, limsy. now it is your turn to prove that BWF / IOC unfair decision has no relation with China w/o or ret

Hey man !!! wow.. I really appreciate your effort .. :) . You are trying your best to support you country. Thats the spirit.

Only one question from my side for you. Just come out of your country 'backup' and talk as a neutral person, do you wanna make it a point that walkover is a correct one for the badminton hereafter???? or just wanted to defend your country ???.

All the statistics data are ok . But what do you wanna infer from it???

I think Fortune point is that it is OK to do something bad when you feel you are being treated unfairly(or when you do not like some rules).

    Tit for tat.

our talk about data would not make sense, if we don't have exact standard of which is considered low or high, few or many etc.

ex: 10 is a way too small compared to 10000, and considered so high compared to 1.

that's why I used % to make it clear. from Jan 1999 - May 2001, using 15 x 3 scoring system (bcoz in 7x5 scoring system, tournamentsoftware only display the first 3 sets ; so I don't know if w/o or ret happened in the 4th set or 5 sets or not)...only 1 ret or w/o during 124 matches, means only 0.8%. that was happened when one country are allowed to have 7 players in 1 disciplines in 2001 World Championships. http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx?id=F1DD4E5D-2165-4702-B0D2-303197A218D2&draw=3. but now, after BWF unfair regulation targetting CHN players, the rate is about 20% - 25%.

as long as no doping, then my answer is yes. You are right. That's what I meant. I think other country also wants to fulfill the maximum quota, so maybe they will do the same. Surely this is only my prediction, since BWF regulations still not targetting several badminton powerhouses likes INA, KOR and Denmark

in 2001 WC, China have 7 WS players, so why now they only can have 4 players ? also, OG spots for singles is 3 players, but why SS finals only allowed 2 players / country ??? don't forget, SS finals offers huge points

edit : for 1999 events, it should be CHN vs CHN = 67 matches, not 76 matches.

I don't know exactly the regulation for 2001 WC. But for me, if lower ranked player / pair from XYZ country can go to OG / WC while world #8 or 10 from China can not, that I said not fair. And yeah, where is your prove that it has no relation ? Where is it ?
