I've met with FKK once in a restaurant at Kepong while i was having dinner with my ex-boss. He's is really not tall and with his curly hair, and my bozz said he looks like PHUA CHU KANG.. www.youtube.com/watch?/=9DSNZQ8hdqk check it out, he is doing somesort of direct selling now if i m not mistaken.
Foo Kok Keong is respected by many for his never-say-die attitude as a player but same cannot be say for his current life. After the 92 Thomas cup which land him a fortune, he retired and became a Perodua car dealer. He is also being sued bankrupt. His current life can be described as "unpeaceful" - thanks to alcohol binge and woman. The last i heard of him was last year where he gone into hiding after he hit a woman (daughter of triad's ppl), and these people were searching for him.
Too much politics in BAM. Look M'sia football.....all the way down to the drain....waste of taxpayers hard earned money.
Just watch Foo Kok Keong been beaten by Yang Yang in the world cup 1989 MS final. One wonders how such a man could torment the great Zhao Jian Hua in the semi final and got himself to the 2nd placing. Steve Baddely who was commenting on the match said that FKK beat Yang Yang in HK open semi final two months before this match. I really miss the likes of him some one with no special talent, did not exhibit fantastic badminton skills but play competent enoouh with a lot of grit and determinantion to stand shoulder to shoulder with great champions, Two classes below the best my foot He was top class for positive attitude and the complement comes from no other than How Jia Chang.
Yes, I know he ran a pub and that's an occupational hazard. Hence the drinking problem. Definitely his postbadminton life is something for other players to avoid. He is viewed with pride in his hometown for his badminton acheivements but people also are realistic about his current predicaments.
whats racket that he's using back then. And if somebody can answer. All the players using during 92 thomas cup. Mas player.
i saw FKK last year in sabah,tawau... he cames here for selling his direct sales item, something like phiten... its look like a coin... then we heard this hero was coming to our town ,so we were so happy... then the organizer said he want to make some show... there will be a game FKK partner one of our player here...against our top doubles player here... then another match is FKK playing single (his best performance last time).. so before that my friends are worried how to play with this ex formal world champion... so when the days has come... we go there half an hour earlier afraid of running out of seat.... then unexpected....not some much crowd... just like 20-30 people attend the match... then FKK in action... against our kampung player... woooo...really unexpected...he really like a guy just learning to plays badminton... miss hit the shuttle... cant step forward to reach the shuttle .... actually he lost the glory last time he got ..... we were so dissapointed... once a time, he was a world champion...but now......haiiiiiiiiiii.... then after that ...we asked him how long he did play badminton... his answer is very long time ago didnt paly.... sorry if i am hurting someone feeling here...i apologize first.... thank you...
I think he really Looooooong didnt play... but i think he also desperate adi... cari makan till tawau!
How come he is desperate? He became Millionaire after MAS clinched the TC in 1992. All players received hefty rewards from government and private sectors. This include cash monies, land etc...
yes...he used to be a millionarie... but after he invest some of his money in some entertainment business that cause him to losses such a amount.... then he had to work hard again... he had been work as a saleman at a electric shop...and etc...
Yong Hock Kin Hi, anybody have the new about the former Indonesia open MS champion, Yong hock Kin pls?
Ah, FKK our most famous 'underdog' player who pulled many great upset wins against champions. Hes not to be underestimated for sure. I most remember there was a Malaysian Grand Prix he won as champion against Rashid Sidek. That match he totally ditched his usual rally style play and go all offensive mode until Rashid (No.1) even gave him a thumbs up. Dissapointingly, even though FKK won, The Star only reported it in a small caption no more than 10 lines.
He used to run a perodua showroom. I met him a couple of times at my workshop. I like him. He gave us quite a few of his business.
