Thanks To 'The Rebels' Finally, it was left to the rebels to fly the Indonesian flag at the 2009 India Open! But for Taufik Hidayat, Flandy Limpele and Vita Marissa, Indonesia would have returned home empty-handed. What a splendid irony! The 'official' players didn't even get noticed. I wonder what the PBSI is thinking now
I think iti is good that it is a challenge for INA youngters to match their senior players...actually it is good sign for Badminton in general...and we may see positive signs" Professional players in future"..( well...at least 3 titles were worn by independent players..... 2 from INA and 1 from MAS..)at least PBSI let them play freely with no string attached like "other countries"...at least there is no WO or match fixing when meeting their countrymen..I think it is good sign and big challenge for PBSI at the same time to groom its National players...
Boss, first of all, the Pelatnas players sent to the India Open GP Gold are not even our first team players. Not to mention, the bulk of the players just experienced their first senior tourney, having been called up only early this year. The most experienced player is Maria Kristin Yulianti, who just recovered from a serious knee injury. The second is Tommy Sugiarto, who hasn't reached SF until this week (consider this week his best achievement as a professional shuttler so far). The rest: 1 MD -- lost to their more experienced senior...no big deal. 2 WDs are raw and inexperienced -- both reach R16 losing to the top-seed and a CHN pair as expected. 2 XDs are new pairs, with Akhmad Tantowi and Mohd Rijal having the experience -- both delivered, esp Towi/Richi in reaching SF. To expect a title or two from these bunch of players will be too much and we can also see that PBSI did not even set a target to them. Just try their best (which they did and exceeded expectations for a couple of them) and get some exposure. That's the message from the coaches!
Indeed....if the non-Pelatnas players play with strings attached, PBSI can just ask them to lose to their younger counterparts. But Flandy/Vita, AG/Alvent, and Taufik all beat their Pelatnas juniors convincingly.
INA National Team officials are better than Li Yongbo! At least none of our National Team officials (today) require the INA independents to loose to current INA National Team players... Unlike the Chen Hong case where CH (after he is not part of the National Team anymore) had to loose to CHN National Team players if they were to meet each other... You may ask Chen Hong about this... He can confirm it. INA (despite our massive mismanagement here and there) is still a very free country...

Hmm.. ..it's not so much of an irony but more of a reality check.. ..they (PBSI) probably must be thinking: what da heck happened to our regeneration process/new younger players??..It's the same ol', same ol' people who won..
....on the contrary, if not for the India Open, we wouldn't have known how new pairs like Towi/Richi and Rijal/Debby would fare. It's heartening that Towi/Richi can at least progress to the SF and beat seeded pairs. The same goes for Rijal/Debby.
^^Yeah..^^ ..and we shall keep track of those pairs' results in their subsequent tourneys, won't we??.. ..Or one could say, if the big time players ala Taufik or LCW or Flandy & Vita didn't participate, maybe, just maybe those younger players could have a chance of lifting the big cheque, like what the CHN WD pair did..
Towi/Richi has the potential to make it to the first team as Towi is relatively experienced and Richi is also a talented girl. Devin/Lita is at best a back-up pair as I have said many times. I believe Krisna will somewhat agree with me on this
no news about Rendra Wijaya PBSI should consider to give alternatif way in Pelatnas We prefer he stay in same champ with Frans Kurniawan as XD players in Pelatnas or as club's players
Make it to the 1st team or not.. ..super talented or super experienced, all we are looking for are: titles, results and consistency...
Er... Should we say the same thing (4L = Lu Lagi Lu Lagi = You again, you again?) to BAM & BA of Korea, Mister? MAS: If it's not LCW, then it's KKK/TBH. KOR: idem ditto. It's either LYD/JJS or LYD/LHJ.
^^Eh??..^^ MAS' LCW and KKK & TBH aren't exactly "veterans"..well, at least not KKK & TBH.. KOR's LYD & JJS and LYD & LHJ aren't also exactly "veterans".. All those players have some titles to show for.. INA's The Wild Child of Badminton, Flandy & Vita can be considered "veterans" already..How about INA's current crop of young players??..
