lee c w can never even touch lin dan's fur, or even hope so.
    talent-wise, skills-wise, mental-wise, all-wise.

to say dat stamina/skills are equal or better, is simply mere rantings of a person who does not know badminton at all.

to say that lee c w lost bcos he is under pressure is always the silliest excuse given. and is just dat,,, EXCUSE, blame this/blame dat.
like blame the ground for being hard when u cannot pass motion.

but in all fairness, lee c w did very very well to (1) win silver medal (2) achieve world no 2. Considering.

    - lack of talent, limited skills/brains (no "super-weapon")

    - low level of team mates. (sparring quality is low, difficult to improve)

    - mediocre coach (misbun was never a good player, how can u xpect him to guide lee c w well)

Being a good player is not necessary will be a good coach and vice versa.
TH's coach, Mulyono, is anot a good player either compare to Misbun but he had hepled TH to highest level.
Asep from Singapore was not a good single player either but he raised the games of Ronald Susilo as well as Kendrik Lee..

Very gung-ho opening statement. I like the fiery attitude, if LCW can only have some of it last Sunday ;)

    Ok, let me attempt to answer;

taufik is very naturally gifted to begin with. so any qualified coach working on him can help win titles.
summore indon team has high quality sparring partners. so taufik can raise his quality.

and why u bring asep (who's that anyway) in to this? ronald susilo and kendrick lee are nothing much. haiseh, never win any titles at all.

FYI, TH hardly spars with Sony/Simon as they have different team/coaches....well....thats sad..
Okay..if you do not know Asep. how about Li Mao? is he a good player?
My point is good player may not be necessary a good coach....it is all about chesmistry between player and coach and player has to believe in their coach also....basically it is 2 ways..not one way....;)

The problem is...that China has even more young talent.

Does Zhang Ning count as over 30?
AGREE 99% The coach does not matter if the player has no talent and vice versa.

For a start I thought we were discussing MS, and secondly Zhang Ning is actually 33 and a one-off. There will never be any one like her again, ever.

In WS though the situation is similar. Gong Zhichao is two and a half years younger than Zhang Ning and she retired I think 6-7 years ago maybe more. Gong Ruina, Zhou Mi...............

ZN is what i consider a late bloomer. Most MS/WS players would quit or got booted out of the team before knowing they were late bloomer or not. Yes, a ZN-like player is hard to repeat.

Late bloomer definately. and maybe because china didn't have any rival to her. Despite this though, she still got picked in team throughout ZM,GZC,GRN,XXF,LL,ZL,JYJ,WL,WYH at different stages......There has to be someting said for mental strength and determination at the expense of pure talent, racket skills and Physical capacity.

And Desire. ZN has to have desire to keep working hard in training - Most players give up as they cannot face the grueling training day after day. ZN has done it in CHN team for 16 Years in 1st team:eek:

Yeah ... and good old Mark Spitz thought no one can ever erase his Olympic record.

And some years ago, no one would have imagined the men's 100m sprint ever going below 10secs. And Usain Bolt tip toed and showboat his way to a world and Olympic record of 9.62 seconds. Are we gonna bet that no one is gonna do that 100 meters below the 9 seconds mark??? ;)

I think XXF is gonna quit. So she won't be around to come back and get gold...probably LL/ZL will try.
