    Taufik serves early warning to rivals at Asian Games

    KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champion Taufik Hidayat has served up an early warning to all his rivals gearing up for the Asian Games in Guangzhou.
    Yesterday, the Indonesian defeated Joachim Persson of Denmark 21-16, 21-11 to lift the French Open crown.
    Earlier, he had scored a convincing 21-12, 21-14 win over Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand in the semi-finals.
    Last week, Taufik also reached the final of the Denmark Open but lost to Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark.
    In the Asian Games, Taufik is in the same quarter as Malaysia’s Mohd Hafiz Hashim, South Korea’s Park Sung-hwan and Japan’s Kenichi Tago.
    Taufik is expected to take on one of them in the last eight.

    2010 Asian Games: MS title going to Taufik, Lee Chong Wei, Lin Dan or Boonsak

    .
    IMHO, at the 2010 Asian Games, the MS title could be going to one of them top players, namely; Taufik, Chong Wei, Lin Dan or Boonsak.

    Taufik should have no problem winning a Bronze in the Individual event with his form right now. The challenge will be beating Lin Dan (again) in front of his home crowd in the SF. If he can do it and win his 3rd consecutive Asian Games Gold, that will certainly be his most treasured moments!

    In 2006, he did beat Bao Chunlai, Lee Chongwei, and Lin Dan to defend his title. At that time, these 3 were certainly the toughest opponents.

    Let's see if he can achieve a similar feat this year!

    BCL has been quiet at international tournaments lately

    .
    Not to side either TH or BCL, as a fan .....

    This year, 2010, has shown to be a better year for TH.

    Lately, BCL has been quiet at international tournaments, while TH has been showing us that he is still amongst our top Badminton players.

    IMHO, currently, TH should be in a better position to defeat BCL if they should face each other again.

    I would say JOJ was lucky to win the DO title last week because TH had a tough SF. I doubt there's any luck involved in TH winning the FO title.
    But the best indication about TH is that his stamina and fitness are probably at his best level since the start of SS. Defeating a CHN youngster (DPY) in a marathon match is sheer proof.
    However TH really has to clear one cobweb in his mind. His dislike of playing CHN MS because of his belief that they tamper with the shuttle. Given that he has often complained to the umpire and they don't see what TH imagined, TH should just focus on his badminton and give allowance for shuttle tampering the way LCW has to allow for questionable line calls. When TH is focussed, he will be scary to his opponents esp CHN MS. Someone please let him know.

    IMHO, the winner of the Mens Singles could be one of these top MS players, namely;
    * Lee Chong Wei
    * Lin Dan

    * Boonsak Ponsana

    Yes, I have added in Chen Jin as it was reminded to me that I have forgotten about him. :eek::eek::eek:

    INA strategy -- time to take a leaf out of the China book?

    I think, if the other MS players from INA (Sony, Simon, Dino) find some form, they can create big trouble and upsets at the AG. Maybe pave the way for TH? :D Just like the CHN team do by setting things up internally?

    Cannot follow you here... He looks tired in DO final, he won FO the next week, I don't see any contradiction... Don't forget none of his opponents in FO is young and willing to run.
