    Quarter-Finals : Brazil 2 - 1 Colombia

    .
    Brazil 2 - 1 Colombia

I believe that Brazil can go all the way; And I love the more attacking play of the Brazilian team.

In Post #17, you said "Weaker teams play defense so the stronger teams were not able to score". The Semi-Finals between Brazil and Germany should be an interesting match. Why? Because Brazil is known as one of the best attacking teams in the world, and Germany is one of the best defensive teams in the world.

Me too. I slept just before Hummels's goal.

Not anymore, I think, because Neymar is out.

    Well, they are the favourites.

And also Silva cannot play - he played so well against Columbia.

I think Brazil will be the underdog against Germany.

    Here are the odds.

As expected. But Holland had a scare and had to do it the hard way.

If Brazil win, Argentina out. If Germany win, Netherlands out.

    Current Semi-Finals odds

    .
As I type, it is showing:
    * Brazil.........1.975 - 1.925...Germany
    * Argentina...2.100 - 1.800...Netherlands
Looks like more people are expecting a Germany-Netherlands Final.

    My guess: A Brazil-Netherlands Final.

    Will it be a Brazil-Netherlands Final ?

    .
So, you are thinking of a South America-Europe Final. Me too; guessing it could be a Brazil-Netherlands Final.

That's what my thinking is. Brazil will win if playing Netherlands. Argentina will prevail over Germany if they meet. Red card is guaranteed if there is a south America final. An all European final is highly unlikely.

For those who would bet on the World Cup. Do not bet on the Brazil-Germany game. The outcome of the second semi-final game will depend on the result of the first.

Argentina sucks even harder than in 2010 and this coming from me who always supports Argentina (as my backup team of course). Without Di Maria they will suck even harder still ... Robben will have a field day against their LB. Zabaleta is a snail as well (as is Demichelis).
Their coach is also only a slight step up from Maradona , in the meanwhile Pekerman was working miracles with Colombia  ...

Brazil is the best counter attacking team in the world along with Germany. Germany's defense is poor compared to their attack all through the qualifying. Now that they are playing with 4 central defenders at the back is it relatively solid but not much attack from the stand-in wingbacks (Boateng/Mustafi and Hoewedes). Now Lahm is back at RB with Schweinsteiger & Khedira fit again.
Brazil is but a shadow of itself at last year's Confederations Cup and without Neymar they are hopeless, not to mention losing the(ir) best defender Thiago Silva. Germany are the favorites here ...
They really, really, REALLY, needed Diego Costa :p. Still can't believe his decision to play for Spain when he was a shoe in for starting forward in the Brazil lineup. Then again you can blaim Scolari for never calling him up before ...
Hulk has been the worst of, well can't really play worse than Fredjzszszsz, the forwards. Oscar is their only hope :D Neymar is out of the World Cup ...

Faith would have it, early goals (practically) decided 3 of the 4 matches :D. Way too unpredictable this World Cup, have never sucked so hard in the "brackets" game ...

To add: (imo) Spain and Chili are the best attacking teams in the world that don't rely on counterattacking but creating their own chances ... and after this World Cup Colombia might be added to the list.

A mind boggling thing I can't get around: Fabio Capello :D. He makes $11 million USD a year coaching Russia after making another fortune "coaching" England. Just looking up his Russian salary I see he has by now been labeled a thief in Russia (by an extremist politician I must note) and has been asked to appear before the parliament (duma) to give an explanation for the performance :D. Doing quite nicely to follow in the footsteps of Sven Goran  (dreadfull NT coach)

Wow. Germany 7 Brazil 1. I know Brazil's forwards suck. Didn't know their defense is so lousy.

At the Semi-Finals, we had Brazil 1 - 7 Germany.

What a shocker? What a BIG scoring match?

They were playing without the brain aka Thiago Silva, he is always busy telling everyone where to stand and what to do so without him ... :p.

    #Schadenfreude :D #blamebigphil #wakeupandsmellthecoffee

Seriously the coach was so stuborn to stick to the same players as one year ago at the Confed Cup ... in the meanwhile Fred aged another year, Paulinho became a benchwarmer at Tottenham, Luis Gustavo went from Bayern Munchen to Wolfsburg, Oscar became a benchwarmer at Chelsea, Hulk had a poor season and in poor form, Marcelo was injured at the end of the season (iirc), Julio Cesar: Toronto (but he actually did alright).

And he left out Kaka who was in great form imo for Hernanes who got to play all of 30 minutes(?)

There is no doubt Argentina will go to the final. 1-0 is the predicted result.

A lot of bets were on under and less than 2 goals in the first half. A double digits game is going to happen in the not too distance future.

After today's game, everybody is speechless, I guess. Would the final be a tight win by Argentina or another lopsided win by Germany? Take your pick folks.
