*Looks like LCW gave strong hints that he is back together with WMC, and he should already have a girlfriend since he wants to get married right after he retires and live a simple life. No plans for coaching.
    * He was scared of Lin Dan because apparently focuses on what will people think of him, etc. Now, he did not think about that and just discussed tactics with his coach, hence he has dispelled his fear of Lin Dan.

    Retirement?

It is more likely he will be asked to come out of retirement many many times like uncle WCH to

play in team events after 2012.Then he can begin his own era of happy badminton like his contemporaries.

How can LCW be scared of LD? How can LCW be scared of a player who is prepared to play him only when fully ready and cop out when not.

If you have been interviewed before, you will be horrified by how you can be misquoted.

LCW must have meant his fear of public criticism if he loses to LD. That s not the same as fearing LD. LD must also be afraid of losing to LCW because each loss increasingly
shatters the myth of his invincibility.

It does kinda look like him..., and the Malaysia Open thing fits as well. World no. 2 doesn't, though, unless it's from or older than 2008 or whatever.

Funny how all characters in Japanese mangas are drawn with huge eyes, but Datuk keeps his "Asian" eyes.

This manga, Smash! Has been completed last year I think. I'm not sure whether they are making direct references to the players in real life but it was mentioned in 1 chapter about Taufik Hidayat's backhand smash.

Chong Wei skips KL Open but eyes glory at India Open

PETALING JAYA: Lee Chong Wei is not playing in the Kuala Lumpur Open next week but the world No. 1 is committed to taking part in the India Open from April 26-May 1.

Chong Wei has opted out of the first of the two-leg national badminton circuit from April 7-10 and his absence paves the way for back-up shuttlers Tan Chun Seang, Liew Daren, Mohd Arif Abdul Latif and Chan Kwong Beng to seize the glory.

But Chong Wei will not be so gracious when it comes to the India Open, which will be a world Super Series event for the first time. China are the notable absentees from the tournament in India when entries closed on Monday.

With the likes of Olympic champion Lin Dan and world champion Chen Jin not competing, the stage is set for Chong Wei to live up to his top billing.

Former Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat, top Dane Peter-Gade Christensen, Thai Boonsak Ponsana and South Korea’s Park Sung-hwan are among the world’s top 10 shuttlers in the fray but they are unlikely to pose any serious trouble to Chong Wei if he plays true to his form.

Chong Wei has not failed to reach the final in all the international tournaments he has played in since a quarter-final exit at the world championships in Paris last August.

In total, he captured six titles, including at the Delhi Commonwealth Games last October and in the recent All-England.

“Chong Wei has been the most consistent player on the international stage thus far and we will help him to maintain it,” said national singles coach Rashid Sidek.

He is more confident with his game after beating Lin Dan at the All-England final. He will go for the India Open and immediately after that the Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold (in Alor Setar from May 3-8). The preparations are tuned towards these back-to-back competitions.”

Rashid has been guiding Chong Wei together with Tey Seu Bock for the last two months since Misbun Sidek quit the national coaching set-up.

The other Malaysian men’s singles entries for the India Open are Chun Seang and Liew Daren.

Badminton: Chong Wei's next stop is India

LEE Chong Wei will make a return to the circuit at the India Open Super Series in New Delhi on April 26- May 1.

Chong Wei, the top seed, should have an easy ride in the absence of China's shuttlers to secure his ninth title since last June.

The World No 1, recent winner of the All England men's singles title, is determined to continue with his winning run in India to boost his confidence in the bid to win the men's singles title at the London World Championships in August.

Chong Wei's main rivals in the India Open are expected to be Indonesia's World No 3 Taufik Hidayat, Simon Santoso, Sony Dwi Kuncoro and Japan's Kenichi Tago.

There is also a possibility that Misbun Sidek will return to guide Chong Wei before the start of the tournament.

The BA of Malaysia will make it known on Friday whether Misbun, who resigned on Dec 31, will accept its offer to coach the national elite squad again.

Misbun's return will definitely give Chong Wei added motivation in upcoming tournaments, especially in the World Championships.

I hope the back-up players will seize the opportunity to do well in LCW's absence.

World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei has stepped forward to do his bit for charity by organising the “Hope and Smile — 311 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami” charity fundraiser on April 2 and 3.
The two fund raisers have the support of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) as well as the Japanese Embassy in Malaysia, who was represented by their Deputy Chief of Mission Koichi Ito at Thursday's Press Conference.

The Malaysian said he was sadden Japan was hit by two disasters - earthquake and tsunami - and wants to help raise RM1 million for the country.

Chong Wei, who recently successful retained his YONEX All England Open title will play two matches against VVIPs and also auction off his winning shirt and racquet which he used to beat Olympic champion Lin Dan in Birmingham.

Chong Wei, who hails from Penang, will organise the first event in his home state and he will play a match against the Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, on April 2.

The second event will be in Malaysia's capital in Kuala Lumpur the following day and Chong Wei is trying to get Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat to be his opponent.

Chong Wei added that several Malaysian artistes could also join the event with all proceeds going towards the fund.

Those wishing to volunteer can contact David Koh at (+016-7643305) and Kate Ng (+016-2085262).
