..what are you referring to with the "calculating the percentages of ranking pts accummulation for the WR"????.. It's very simple why LD was no. 1 all those while and why LCW is no. 1 currently and yes, we've discussed abt that before: either players played in more tourneys and either players won or finished in latter rounds in more tourneys.
Again my question is why weren't the one who won more tourney according to you are rank #1 instead? According to BWF SS statistics PG is the one that played the most or at least more than LCW. Shouldn't he be ranked #1 based on your "findings"? I couldn't find the answer in BWF that's why I refer to you.
..please re-read my post #542 carefully.. For the current MS ranking, sure PG played in 1 more tourney, but who won more tourneys between LCW & PG??..If say PG played in 4 more tourneys and he either won the tourney or finished in latter rounds more, i'm sure you'll see the stats even closer or even PG being WR #1..
Can I conclude it this way: 1.) its not necessary that one who played the most # of tourneys would be ranked #1 as in the case of PG. 2.) again for someone who participated in certain # of tourneys and won almost all of it be ranked #1 as in the case of LD. 3.) in order to be ranked #1, one should take part in as many tourney as possible in his own capacity, but more so than his nearest competitor, be fit and good enough to win almost all of it and ultimately to consistently performed at the highest level as in the case of LCW. Am I right?
To give another perspective: From end of February 2004 to mid June 2006 (if i'm not mistaken was LD's longest tenure as WR#1): LD played in 22 IBF/BWF sanctioned individual tourneys. He won 10 of them. He was a runners-up in 4 of them. He was a semifinalist in 5 of them. He was a quarterfinalist in 2 of them. All in all, he never finished any lower than the QF Rd. in all those 22 tourneys. He also participated in 3 team events (2 TC & 1 SC); no record on him in those tourneys.
..minor correction (ran out of time to edit), actually one of those 22 individual tourneys was the 2004 OG. And yes, he finished in Rd 1/32. But the rest of the tourneys, he never finished lower than QF Rd.
Ronald Susilo defeated Lin Dan at the 2004 Olympic Games . Yes, that was a surprise when RS defeated LD at the 2004 Olympic Games. After that match, some thought RS could join in with LD, LCW, TH and PG to dominate Badminton in the first decade of 2000's. .
Will LCW to relinquish his World No.1 ranking because of his back injury? . Heard that LCW is now having a pretty bad back injury. Will it cause LCW to relinquish his World No.1 ranking because of this injury? .
That is some really, really scary news... Let's hope that he gets well soon. There is no point for him to stay as no.1 but continue to harm his back. He should get sufficient rest.

Only wish to see Lin Dan playing more often . It shows that Lin Dan did have a good record over the other top players. Only wish to see Lin Dan playing more often; Currently, he is only participating in selected tournaments. .
