    Also, there are not enough International Challenge tournaments. These are lower ranking tournaments but are important for new players/junior players/players coming back from injury. These players often cannot get direct entry into the GP tournaments (not enough points).

    Agree with relegation of China Masters to GPG. As to the comment of Guang Dong people being happy, yes, that's a good reason for the move. However, as cities have to bid for the tournament, I thought it would be more likely that Guang Dong put a better bid in rather than BWF wanting to make Guang Dong people happy.

    Guang Dong putting in a bid? I thought CBA decides whether it should be held in Shanghai or Guangzhou. Anyone knows?

    interesting table, thanks pcll99. But when I say the hierarchy is not clear, i mean between the BWF events (of all ranks) and the other engagements of the players, like club league and exhibition and national championship and all that.
    I also share the opinion that the BWF lower events should play a greater role, bringing live badminton to many places, giving the occasion for young and top 100 players to get some exposure and money.
    if those events were propose for retransmission on the web for an annual fee I would subscribe.

    Guangdong put a bid to CBA who put it forward to BWF? That would sound logical.

    Agree with more lower level tournaments - I have heard progress on that front :)

    I was at the Macau Open 2006 or 2007 ( can't remember). LCW vs Taufik, guess what, the stadium was 90% empty. less than 100 spectators. It was very embarrassing...

    Well, Macau government supports events to raise the profile of Macau. With such a small population, how much public support are you realistically expecting? I suspect that is why Macau was not awarded the hosting of the world championships. I have been to the Macau open and seen more than 100 people attending before :) Even HK Open had less than 50people attending a session in the past. :) That was reported in Badzine. ;)

    This is bad organization. In HK, as elsewhere I suppose, many empty seats are in fact places bought by company, but people don't show up. There are so many badminton fans in HK, with a good organisation it should be full pack all the time.
