Congratulations! The newly reunited pair of Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei defeated Duanganong/Kunchala in the first round of the Thailand Open. Although the Thais might not be that good, beating them is certainly an achievement because the Thais are not only the top seeds, but they have also won a Super Series title before. Hopefully they can reach the quarter-finals at the very least. Now, why did the coach split them up despite them reaching the Badminton Asia Championships final last year? (Beating Meliana Jauhari/Greysia Polii on the way there)
WKW/Vivian's scoreline against the Chinese pair might seem pretty much a one-sided loss, but they are pretty creative in their shots (or what I find) Not the typical flat WD game played by the Japanese..(very boring) This one was pretty interesting to watch. Too bad their defense was pretty weak. I think we should start sending them to more tournaments instead of CEH/WPT...
Vivian need to improve on her defence and both players need more power in their smashes. They also need to be more steady and were made to run around (maybe could have confused weaker opponents) by the more experience CHN pair otherwise will run out of gas for future match ups. Attitude is very good unlike the CEH/WPT. Would have nice if they had took a set of the CHN pair. Good potential.
they should be sent to more tournaments WITH not instead of CEP/WPT... there is lot they can learn form the older pair.

Vivian-Khe Wei’s gallant run comes to an end in Thailand By LIM TEIK HUAT PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s interest in the Thai Open badminton championships ended with Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei failing to get the better of the stronger Chinese pairing of Shu Cheng-Bao Yixin in the semi-finals in Bangkok yesterday. Vivian-Khe Wei’s gallant campaign ended with a 17-21, 14-21 defeat in 42 minutes as the seventh seeded Chinese, playing in their first tournament as a pair, set up an all-China affair in the final. Shu Cheng-Bao Yixin will face fifth seeds and Guangzhou Asian Games gold medallists Qing Tian-Zhao Yunlei, who overcame Hong Kong’s Lok Yan Poon-Tse Ying Suet 21-23, 21-12, 21-15, in today’s final. Despite the defeat, Vivian-Khe Wei can give themselves a pat on their shoulders for reaching the semi-finals in their first international Open since they were reunited as a pair recently. Vivian last played together with Khe Wei at last year’s Asian Badminton Championships in New Delhi where they lost to China’s Pang Pang-Qing Tian in the final. Doubles coach Pang Cheh Chang was happy with their performance as they managed to beat top seeds and local favourites Duanganong Aroonkesorn-Kunchala Voravichitchaikul in rubber games en route to reaching the last four. “They are more matured in their performance compared to when they first started playing together. They will be together as a pair now that the Olympic qualifying campaign is underway. “They’re shown here that they can play well together but the challenge is to maintain some consistency after this,” said Cheh Chang.
