    ^^Great news..^^

..thanks for sharing that..after months and years of waiting, finally!

Looking at the details, with nearly 3,000 seating capacity, it could be, arguably, the largest badminton spectator venue in Southern California. The facility's sq. footage is close to an acre.
It should be interesting to see how the new facility will turn out...

If LABC actually opens, we will have three major badminton clubs, totaling 50 courts within a radius of 3 miles.

That's way too much in such a concentrated area.

Early bird (in this case, tiger) catches the worm. :p

It would have been ideal if we had:

    +One club in West L.A
+One club in San Gabriel Valley
+One club in Rowland Heights or Diamond Bar

I can confirm LABC construction has commenced. The contractor hired my father's (now retired) firm to do the geotechnical engineering.

Come middle of 2009 badders in the San Gabriel Valley area will be in badminton heaven. Oh wait, it's badminton heaven here, now. It will be more even so then. :D

    Possible future U.S. Open venue??..

..with the proposed seating capacity of nearly 3,000 spectators, i wonder if the new LABC could possibly be one of the venue options to host future U.S. Open tourneys??... ..on that note, can't wait to see the finish facility..

I agreed with Don. We definitely needs a private Badminton Club in West Los Angeles.

    Looks like it's on schedule..

..i passed by the area the other day and looks like the construction is on schedule (at least from the exterior). The building is up & is really high/massive, almost as tall as the SGVBC building/facility...

The last time i saw the bldg..

..from the outside, it looked 90% done. However, from what i heard from another person w/inside knowledge to the project, the inside is not done yet. Meaning, they haven't put the flooring. Thus, they are projecting next yr. for the Grand Opening.
But i also heard, abt 2-3 months ago, from another person who actually is involved in the project, they're supposed to be done and ready to roll out the red carpet by end of this yr (less than 3 months)....will they??..
So, yes, to echo shreky's post : it is opening soon! How soon? that we don't know..;)

I'll try to snap a few exterior pics when i get a chance to swing by the area...
