No need to worry about LXR. She has all the tools to succeed as is. She just needs to take care of her body right now. It is still a year away from Olympics qualification. There is no need to burn the candle from both ends at this point. LXR is still comfortably in front of the pack in terms of rankings. It's up to the other girls to jostle for positions. With the long break coming up until the Uber Cup, LXR will re-assert herself again at the Uber Cup and in the tournaments after.
Other than her teammates, LXR is the most feared WS for the rest of the world. She is the best all around WS at this moment and have all the shots in the book. Barring any unforeseeable incidents, she will collect all major titles including the coming Olympic.
I think LXR's main priorities this year are two: World Champ and Asian Games. If I were her, I prefer not to play in Uber, to save energy. If she loses in World Champ this year again, it will affect her qualification for Rio2016, especially she loses against a non CHN player. Asian Games will be interesting. This year may be the last opportunity to win for WYH and LXR. If WSX wins it, that will boost her chance for Rio a lot.
To LXR, winning the Uber Cup is more important than the Asian Game title. She will win the coming WC.
OMG. Reading it in 2014. What a theory!! OG 2012- WYH WC 2013 - BAE Yeon Ju (lost in SF to LXR) Well, looking forward to this year AG and WC.
An update on world #1. 6 events entered, 3 wins and 3 runner ups. 6 wins in Ubber cup. All 3 losses were to her teammates, 2 to WSX and 1 to WYH. Career winning percentage-83.61%. Current year-91.66%. Let see what will be transpired the following 6 months before 2014 comes to the end. Who will the first to defeat her this year other than her teammates, it is an interesting question? I doubt it will happen this year.
I will send you a dozen birdie if it happens within this calender year. If ST lose next time they meet, you owe me 1 .
^ Super cute! Thanks so much for this find, pcll99 Thirteen years later, and her expressions haven't changed much at all!
Wow... now I can understand how China can become such a force in badminton... they really take badminton seriously from a very young age.
It is hard to believe LXR losing two WC finals back to back. First loss to non-Chinese WS in 2014. 'CHOKE' is the only word I can think of. I still believe she will bounce back and winning the next Olympic gold and two WC's along the way. Cm is a very well deserved Champion, besting three very good players in a row. Very well done.
It's always that way. A fresh player comes in and takes the world by storm and the CHN players would first struggle to play them. Once the team of CHN coaches have analyzed Carolina Marin's game, LXR will beat her. It was the same way with Intanon.
