For some reason I like the feeling and touch much more from the XP70, even tho it should be the other way around. But yeah, I think thats how it feels when you have found your true soulmate.
I literally just bought the MX60 30 minutes ago. I'm contacting Eric about the XP70 now, sigh. I better get a lot of stringing done this summer and next year at university to keep up with all these purchases -_-. Before I kick myself for choosing the wrong specs, I should ask: if I would prefer something less stiff than VT80PG and every so slightly less stiff, which specification of weight and bp should I choose? Since I will most likely get it strung with NBG98 and RKEP G09 on it. Thanks!
^ Lol... so i got you looking here also. I'd say the XP60 feels a tad less or almost same stiffness as my VT80. XP70 for sure would be less stiff and would be a safe choice. Bp wise, 300mm would be similar. Weight will depend on your preference. If you're playing plastic, heavier is better. Say, 87-88g.
Thank you kindly. I'll probably go for the 88g XP70 then with BP ~300. Quite excited with those specs actually. Should be fun comparing it with the MX60 when I get home from the airport >=D You'll be happy to know I also bought ClearTune for iOS. Yeah that's right, I read that thread too lol. I've been keeping track of all my rackets, strings, and tensions. Time to add another parameter to my growing excel file =D What's your reasoning for the heavier is better for plastic?
All RKEP rackets are selling @ US$119.95 + $30 shipping = $149.95, and you said this is less than 1 third of the price does it mean that you have to buy other racket in your country $450+ @ ?? Please correct me if I interpret this wrong, thanks.
Hehe... thumbs-up to frequency monitoring. Playing plastic is mostly about hard thumping the bird as it's hard to play finesse shots with it, so heavier is better. Make sure you contact Eric by email to get best pricing.
I'm using a 4u Voltric 80 right now. I'm considering a xp60 since I want something a bit stiffer (can't use ZF, too heavy). I'm just concerned that the xp60 is not head heavy enough? Feedback appreciated!
It's definitely not as head heavy but Eric also sells the Powerizer which is the Victor lead tape which can be used to make the racket head heavier!
Not the same as an originally heavy racket, I'm afraid...a 4U VT80 is ~84/310, right? A 86/300 is nearly as heavy, a 87/300 slightly heavier.
After swinging my XP60/70 and VT80, I just realized that they don't swing the same, because most of the mass of the VT is at the top where the trivoltage bumps are, as opposed to the XP with most of the mass at the bottom where the MX cross section is. I suppose adding some lead tape at the top of a 83g XP60/70 may make it more comparably similar.
Ordered two XP70s to tryout, and will also use them to test some strings. Ordered 87 and 88g @ 300mm bp. I'm actually a little worried if I accidentally ordered too heavy and too headheavy. Although I would like a lighter and less stiff version my 3UG5 VT80, I think my specs are a little too high to meet that. Maybe I should have gone for 86/87 @ 297-298 instead haha. As always, Eric has shipped them extremely fast and they will arrive soon. Hopefully 1-2mm difference in bp won't matter too much, can anyone shed more light on the difference of a few millimetres? Is there a discernible difference of a few millimetres between identical rackets? Then again, I could always take off a few inches off the top of the original grip and that would fix the weight and headheaviness problem...
You should be fine. If anything, I find the XPs measure 0.5-1g less than the label indicates. At least from the 7 I've ordered in the past few months.
Thanks, guys! I figured it'd be slightly lighter from your posts. I feel a little better about it, can't wait to try it! I'll post specs and a review later. I'll only have a month to try these rackets and test out strings, so little time!
