for the string job, thats was good 27lbs as it came with a 'wow' when your buddies were trying on it but it went pop after probably 5 sessions!

    here's how i conclude!

zymax 62 when strung at 25lb and below doesn't have this distinction as 27lbs,

ln fact i cut mine before first session ends!

i was hoping it would last and at the same time enjoy the ping sound but was wrong.

so can i say your 27lbs is somewhere there or accurate?

    yes, i can!

    and to sumarize once again,

if you pull 27lbs and actually it was something like 25lbs and below,

i am sure you won't get your result like that!

and we won't be sharing such discussions at all!

    cheers!

pbm, ah... i understand what you are saying now.

yes. i think you are right. somehow stringing ZM62 between 23-25lbs is kinda so-so. i have tried 21-22 lbs and it actually felt quite good. still better than other strings. but it really shines at 27lbs.

it is incredible how we are half way around the world and ends up with the similar conclusions.

Let me just say that the Ap62 is going to be my go to string, the feel is just amazing. I have never tried ZM62 as it is not easy to find one here but I can imagine it having similar characteristics with Ap62. That is why I recommend you trying out the ap62 and maybe give us a comparison. :)

yes, ashaway is the only usa company making strings

and i am still waiting for confirmation lining has their ap62 made there.

off hand, i would say, very much an ashaway product with different packing!

btw, anybody still have the first batch of yonex braided string packing, the bg 65 or bg 66?

i always wanted to see where they were made? i started stringing those string in the mid or late 80's and i really forgot the first few batches.

if i am not wrong, they were made by ashaway before in the past!

well.. broke another one today. mains at the top, but no mishit.

good that it is the thought of having to restring it that sucks, not the cost of doing it.

With the newfound properties of the PP Precision, I've found that I really like ZM67@26lbs (24.8/27.3) and that the I'm getting 100% of the stringbed on a very consistent basis, but I feel I can go higher for equal power but better better precision.

Since the Panda has dropped the tension warranty to below 30 pounds, I don't feel comfortable going to 28 (26.7/29.4) as that is pushing the upper limit with regards to cross tension. So to get the feel of a stringbed 2lbs higher, I decided to go with ZM62 @ 26lbs (24.8/27.3). I have to say, that the ZM62 feels so much better at a higher tension. When I tried it at 22, 23, and 24 lbs, it was stiff and unforgiving with what felt like a decrease in power and control compared to ZM67 across the board in similar tensions. So I would compromise by using ZM62 in the mains and ZM67 in the crosses to soften the bed. Better than 67 alone, better than 62 alone, but a pain to string because the 62 would just destroy my 67 crosses after only a few sessions.

But putting ZM62 at 26lbs has really brought the string to life for me and is now my go-to. I had high praise for this string, and for the PP Precision, but now I have even more praise for the both of these.

    looks like faulty grommets

for high tension stringing, weshould turn the grommets after every 2 stringings

then change them, wow... i hate doing that!

mind telling us what machine used for your stringing?

sound interesting with pulling tension with decimal points!

any idea its a 12v or 24v motor?

For stringing, I now use the e.Stringer DG made by Silent Partner. It is no longer listed on their website. I do not know what kind of a motor is used, but it does instruct to be plugged into a 120V outlet.

Its an ECP, rotary gripper like on the SP Jive (which can be found on their website). The turntable is the same for the DG and the Jive: 6pt supports, one turnwheel for both left and right supports. Tension can be raised by 1 or .1 lbs, has an option for displaying in kg, has 0%, 10%, and 20% prestretch functions, with memory settings for mains, crosses, and knot (meaning for the last 2 crosses before a knot). It has three pulling speeds: slow, medium, and fast. I replaced their standard clamps with Gamma brand diamond dusted fixed clamps (only use these for tennis and racquetball and for outside mains on badminton rackets). I use 4 HQ flying for the mains, and 4 YY flying for the crosses.

    My standard settings are:
    <26lbs: medium speed, 20% prestretch
26lbs and greater: slow speed, 10% prestretch (omit if 10% results in >29lbs), omit +10% tension on last two crosses in favor of +1 lbs

And my calculations for tensions are:
    Target Tension = X eg. 28
    Mains = .955X = 26.7
    Crosses = 1.1(Mains) = 29.4
    Knot = 1.1(Crosses) = 32.3 (in this case, I favor the +1lbs, so I would do 30.4)

To be honest, usually just go +/-5%, then adjust so that Crosses are +10% of mains, while keeping target tension in the middle. So for 28, +/-5% is 26.6/29.4, adjust to 10% while keeping 28 in middle would be 26.7/29.37
I'd rather have a little more tension in the crosses than a little less, so I round to 26.7/29.4 to help maintain shape on my machine.

quite a lot of rememberings especially numbers you got there!

but why you use flying clamps?

doesn't it came with 2 clamps? especially if they are the diamond powdered ones you should be using them!

I think the diamond powdered clamps were first introduced by the german pacific brand some 20 yrs ago!

mine you those clamps still working until today!

You guys must have some secret about stringing this ZM62, I have had ZM62 strung up on various racquets in occasions by good stringers, non of them would last more than 3 games. The latest victim is a Precision with ZM62 @26x28lb and it almost get to finish the second game. Where as, my usual string, BG80 would last in the upwards of 2 months.

I do adjust the tension a bit depends on racquets, but my usual tension is:
    For BG80, 26x28lb 10% pre-stretch
    For ZM62, 26x28lb no pre-stretch or 25x27lb with 10% pre-stretch

The ZM62 feel so good while it last ..........................

The fixed clamps I have are for tennis. They are great for tennis and racquetball. They are thick and the teeth are spaced wrong for badminton crosses. Flying clamps are faster still for me. I'm still looking for the right badminton fixed clamps.

agree. i don't think ZM62 will last for people who can hit really hard.

I am a descent hitter but certainly not in the class of hard hitter at all. Pete_LSD easily kick my bud using his left hand with one eyes closed, let alone his right with the cleaver.

Guess I need to improve and pay more attention on hitting the sweet spot every time. I still have one Precision with ZM62, going to be real careful on this one to see if it could survive through a 2 hour section.

I snapped my ZM62 today. It was on a mishit smash, just south of the sweetspot. I'm going to try for a compromise and do ZM67 at 27lbs, see what happens.

would also be interested in performance of ZM67@27lbs. i have previously strung it at 24lbs and while performance was better than bg80, it is still no where near ZM62@27

i just strung my ARC10 with ZM65@27lbs. will report once i try it out.

The ZM67 is not as good as the ZM62 in power and playability although it is more durable. The reason is the huge difference between the thickness of the two strings-thinner strings, AOTBE, will always be better than their thicker cousins except for durability.
If you must use ZM67 or ZM65 then try to increase racket speed by omitting two bottom cross strings, the second string and the fourth string from the bottom. It does help quite significantly.
