I wouldn't say "stiff". At this point, they do lack variety in their tactics. Their game is to channel the attack at the middle and keep pounding on it.

Watching WXL's performance with MJ, I wonder why LYB did not keep WXL and ZYL together. They would be a slower but stronger version of DJ/YY. In fact, they beat DJ/YY for a national championship.

I agree. Having seen Wang Xiaoli live in India and Korea, it was easy to deduce that she has all the attributes necessary to beat tomboys at their game. :D Yet she also has enough awareness to mix up the pace and the CHN WD pair's come from behind 2nd game victory against the Koreans was among the best comebacks I've seen.

But I suppose the CHN coaches split them (Zhao Yunlei/Wang Xiaoli) up in an attempt to create 2 strong pairs instead of one super-strong pair.

Wonder why there's no thread on Wang Xiaoli though .....

LYB on CS/ZYL's Sudirman Cup Absence

LYB on why CS/ZYL was snubbed from the Sudirman Cup Team:

"I have full confidence in WD. DJ/YY is very safe. Rather than having them (CS/ZYL) participating just for a (world) title, it's better to let them have more systematic training for better results in major individual competitions."

LYB's professional goal is to nurture 100 world champions (WC, OG and the three Cups) and then retire. The number currently stands at 58. CS/ZYL will win one on their own and PP/TQ is a "freebie", adding an easy 2 to the count.

^^It's good and tough for LYB..^^

..good in that he has many players to choose from. Tough in that he has to make a decision which might not be favorable.
The options of personnel are limitless. He has many to choose from and in this case he could afford to wait out on the younger players (barring them bolting out). I wonder though, what would happen if ZYL and CS decide to bolt out, early??
Not so with many other top baddy countries which don't have the same amount of talent/personnel as LYB does.

LYB speaking to CS, ZYL before boarding the bus to Sudirman Cup. Apologize?

Plus, ZYL's "twin" and other partners.

    Hmm..

..LYB might've said "We're gonna go, defend & bring the Sudirman Cup back and it'll be your guys' turn to defend it in 2 yrs time. So no partying or kicking back whilst we're away.."..

    LYB finally saw the light:rolleyes:

CS/ZYL took a late flight to Guangzhou for the Sudirman Cup as the third WD pair.

^^I read the news in the Sudirman Cup sub-forum..^^

    ..in one of the posts..
So, since they're in, who's out/who are they replacing?? Or are they just going to add them up to the current set of players?..
Should be interesting if LYB will play them at all..

One speculation is that a player who was to play in both WD and XD will concentrate on XD only. Therefore, a spot is opened in WD.

If this is true, PP/TQ is safe. Either ZTT or DJ will not have a chance to play.

The latest alleged quote from LYB is that CHN used only two out of three WD spots. CS/ZYL filled the last spot, just to be safe. That left the question of how/why PP/TQ was on the team.

Not sure whether that brief consersation among CS/ZYL and LYB in front of the bus had anything to do with this;)

ZYL is finally back in form. CS is improving quickly. Hope they will be good enough in time to capture the World Championship.
