If England wins 4th place in Women's Team Championships, European would have 4 teams for Uber Cup Finals.
that year the asian team championships replaced the individual rite..? will the thomas cup qualifiers be shown live on tv?
To abedeng Dear Abedeng, Do not worry Li Li has quit the National team. It is good news for Malaysia Uber Team. Let's hope that our Malaysia Uber team will qualify based on merit. Malaysia Boleh, Abedeng! From: Ayu
Hi Brother Din Why don't you ask the Malaysian authorities to give Ayu Malaysian citizenship? Then we won't have to contend with her at the badminton stadium and be embarrassed when she kept on cheering Malaysia Boleh when Malaysia meets Singapore, instead of the other way round!
Ha. ha. One can looks on Li Li quitting as a blessing to Singapore's Uber Cup team. The Singapore Uber Cup team will be without pressure and teams like Malaysia will be offguard, thinking they are easy meat. Actually, Li Li in the team will also not give Singapore any winning point. She is always a born loser. Always losing. So, my dear friend Singapore, it is a good omen to be without Li Li. Get rid of your burden. It's high time as she never delivers. Her head has swollen so big since she won the Commonwealth Games 2002 Gold Medal that she has never been able to recover. So move on, Singapore. It will be a blessing in disguise.
Ayu, let's not jump to conclusions. I've seen many teams who became stronger without a key player at their side. Best case, the Malaysian 1976 Thomas Cup squad who made it to the final without a single top 10 player in their ranks. Or the Indonesian 2000 squad, who beat the strongest ever Danish lineup since the 60s on the way to the title. With only 3 best Asian Uber Cup teams guaranteed a place, even if Malaysia pass through Singapore (which is NOT guaranteed), there is still JPN, TPE or HK to fight against. gitee, A born loser does not beat the World Champion, twice. Or beat the SEA Games champ, in last year's team competition. I think we owe Li Li more credit than that, although it has to be said that Singapore's women's singles squad performs unevenly the past few years. Probably due to not being sent to many top competitions.
Well, since the European qualifier will start off a week before the Asian one, we will practically know if Asian will get 3 or 4 slots in Uber Cup. Briefly, here are the European Top 8 Women's Team Ranking so far:- England - 5 Germany - 8 Denmark - 10 Holland - 12 Russia - 13 France - 16 Sweden - 18 Bulgaria - 19 And here are the Top 8 Asian ranking bar China and Indonesia:- Hong Kong - 2 Japan - 3 Korea - 4 Malaysia - 6 Chinese Taipei - 9 Singapore - 10 Thailand - 13 India - 16 The challenge for the individual player is to rake in as many team points as possible before the end-February cutoff date for the final team rankings.
Oh ...since when did Li Li beat the World Champion twice ? Well, she can only do it once in a blue moon. ha ha ...
Based on current ranking, even if ENG somehow gets 4th placing, Asia could still get 4 slots if either HKG, JPN or KOR somehow gets 4th placing.
i dont understand? if Mlaysia get the 4th place then do asia get the 4th place if England gets the 4th place.
If the rankings stay the same, no. England will go through. However, the final rankings will depend on how many points each individual player amasses during the qualifying competition. In MAS and ENG's case, the 2nd singles and 1st doubles ranking are very close to each other, could easily go the other way if MAS players win their matches and ENG lose theirs.
Well ayu is trying very very hard at every tournament where Malaysian players are playing. The day may come.
If MAS gets 4th place, the likelihood that Asia will get 4 slots is still rather high. What is the likelihood of ENG actually getting 4th place? Fortunately for MAS, the European competition finishes first, so they will know exactly what placing they need to qualify. Still, I give MAS only about 60% chance of getting any position in the top four.
Why do you need to be a Malaysian to support the Malaysian badminton team? In that case, a lot of football fans will have to convert to Brazilian citizenship.
When your own country is playing against another and your countryman is not supporting your own country but the opponents openly instead, in my opinion, this is very bad for morale and simply lacks patriotism. If other countrymen also follow suit, then what will become of one's country's nationalism. In a difficult situation when I also like the opponent country, I ought to be diplomatic and keep neutral and not cheer openly for the opponents for all to see. It will be a great embarrassment if one did so. If one does not support one's own country and be proud of its achievements, who will readily take one's place? Then one might as well be a citizen of another country that one feels proud of. It is different when one's own country is not involved.
I have heard that Zhou Mi is not eligible to play for HKG Uber yet..so HKG will need Wang Chen/Yip to play 2nd WD.....
