Just played with the zyex stuff some more...
and I liked it a lot better than the first time around...

The feeling isn't as "alive" as bg80, or ML..So playing with one of those first and then switch to a 0.73mm is bound to feel dead...
But today I had a fresh set of ML and a fresh set of .73zyex and I thought, what the heck...
And I must say, I'm impressed... It's very solid, has good grip, It's actually a very good string, especially for a 0.73... Sound/power was good as well...
All in all, a pleasant experience. I'll definatly get some reels of it, when it comes out :p

Yes, keep in mind the string is 0.73 - 0.75mm (more on string thickness in another post that I'm still working on...).

So you can imagine how good it will be at 0.69mm. :D

I have to say the 0.69mm is one of the best I have tested for a while. Risking the chance the evil empire using force on me. I would say it might be better than BG85 in every category. However, the thicker 0.73mm dose not work for me.

Ashaway have told me that the strings will be out in September. Also new prototypes are being made right now. Not x-1709 but the ones after that.

    yeah, 0.69 should be great...
I could live with 0.70mm as well...

as long as it keeps his tension as well as the .73...

You have to string it tight. It's for people who absolutely hammer the bird, designed for great durability. I strung it at 25-28lbs. and didn't think it was too great. It was a bit spongey and just thick.

But keeping in tradition with what I do with thicker string, I strung it at 31-32lbs. and boy oh boy, what a completely different string. It's so awesome at high tension. Crisp, powerful...just refreshing! :D

Yes, because I gave Steve a long list of things to improve and/or revise. :p

Heck, in its current form, X1709 is already a winner.

same here, just string it slightly(or more) above your usual tension...
    so the 27lbs worked nicely..
    I just hope it doesn't drop ;)

I normally string micropower at 22lbs, but I feel I could easily go to 24lbs.

So what would people recommend for me with the .73 zyex string. Currently using a woven 7

    Woven 7?! I miss that racket. :( I'm currently "negotiating" for 5-10 Woven 7s.

A Woven 7 with MP White at 29-32lbs. is perfect for this panda! :D

whatever they say, never try anything over 25lbs :p

You'll get hooked on it, go higher and higher, break more and more.. Higher tensions will suck up your money, you're free time, and your rackets :p

Would have thought it be ok using a woven with zyex, because of the extra strong frame and minimal tension loss with the zyex

I totally agree. String ing for my friends is fun. However, with my regular job (Yeap, sitting at work and chatting with you guys and get pay for yapping) taking up a lot of time. The other day I was tired of stringing and considering shutting down the entire side job.
Don't worry, Sir Dinkie the Never Gooder Panda, I will put the order for your glass slipper in for you later today.

Oh no, you're racketframe will definatly hold.. the string will probably last a good time and play nicely...

    But high tension ruins lives;)
It's destroy your free-time as a stringer, cost you money, forget to pick up your mom from the airport, put the milk carton back empty and sniffs your underwear when he thinks nobody's watching...

    okay, I might be overreacting;)
    and I'm joking:D

In all seriousness, higher tensions are great, in my opinion... But you break more strings, rackets and it just generally costs me (as a stringer) a couple of hours a week...

even if you string them at 22lbs and play twice a week.. you'll run out of bg80 before ashaway releases their Zgut ;)

Darn it, I just broke my last set on a bloody mishit... I am soo done with that cp6000's half-oval-head...

ah jerby i wish, i can only wish. I don't break strings mate, it's just not in me. Well the proper technique isn't in me anyways.

Strings last me up to 3 months, then slack and i cut them. I though bg-80 would be thinner than my MLXL but no, that's not the case.

There isn't such a material as zyex, that is the company who makes the material. Zyex Ltd.

The material in these new strings is actually Polyetheretherketone or PEEK for short.

Its the same stuff Yonex have put in their new arcsaber 10 racket shaft

Dinkalot should try this racket to see if he can break the shaft.

so..... the arc10's shaft hold tension very well?
has it got a grippy texture?

    ;)

Basematerial is very important, but it's the way it's produced into strands (fibers) that determine it's property's as well...
so there's no "material" named zyex...but there is a product named zyex...

Being the curious lad I am, I wonder how they produce those strands...

The shaft doesn't hold tension, I mean It must be real strong e.g won't break
