If LCW wins this SO (most likely) and the upcoming IO (if he doesn't withdraw), will LCW be the World #1 in MS? As we all know that LD is not participacing in these two events, that means LD cannot gain more points (or will lose some points ?)... Someone please confirm, thanks.
even if LCW win both SO and IO ??? I thought LCW will replace LD's position as #1 after IO (if he manage to win both titles). Currently, LD's points is 86280 and LCW's is 79599. The differece is 6681 points. If your calculation is right, just wonder why the point diference is still so far (almost no change) --- 6891 (now) and 6121 (after) . Anyway, thanks for your calculation.
lin dan did not get any points in last year's singapore open and did not compete in the indonesia open....therefore he wont lose any points.. if lee chong wei wins the singapore open .. he will get 9200 points and that will deduct from the 6420 points he got last year for reaching a semifinals..that means he will earn 2780..he will be 3901 points behind lin dan..sorry.. i calculated wrongly..
LCW will not be world number even if he wins both (Singapore and Indonesia). But if he wins either one or both, he will be 2780 (9200-6420) pts closer to LD.
lcw defitenetely will not become the world number 1.. whats the point if being the world number 1? the OG08 is near and u will be very much pressured remember the WC06 quater final? what happen to lcw...?
Thanks for the clear explanation. Maybe he can do that after the OG. In any sports, being world number 1 means something. For example: "something to proud of", "the best", "top achievement", "being more famous", etc (maybe extra money/salary for players in certain countries ).
...and the sponsors might offer more money, too, if he keeps the top ranking and top performance consistently.
It will be more meaningful if LCW be world #1 when he wins a host of big titles like Olympic gold, WC, AE, etc rather than be ranked #1 for a few weeks.
Not salary, quarterly bonus, but still pending for some of 2007's one (i.e. havent pay). Anyway, no hurry, only the fan 'kan cheong'
I rather Chong Wei remain in world#2.It will be most meaningful and memorable if he wins the Olympic gold in Beijing despite being the World#2. What's the point of being world#1 with the hugh pressure on your shoulder?
Some correction: if LCW wins either one, he will be 2780 (9200-6420) pts closer to LD. Since points for IO2007 has been deducted and the lowest two in the best 10 are currently 6420 and 6420, he will be 2780 + 2780 = 5560 pts closer to LD if LCW wins both. Yes, world number two is good enough for LCW to have "favorable" draw in Beijing.
