Hahahhaah yeah that's why I like vs850 though. You really know when the strings are gone. Shortest lifespan for a set for me was 3days but I did hit the too of the string bed at full strength. But generally when I let them settle for half a week they just refuse to snap..

VS850 is one of the ones I have to overshoot tension-wise so that it's at "working" tension by the time I come to play with it.

And I prestretch it manually and with the machine. Lot of work.

Won't too much prestretch kill its liveliness?

As long as you don't go past the "creep limit", you're fine.

How do you know when this happens? I'm worried I over did it last time so I'm opting for 1or2lb over and rest it a week.

In the past, overheard a stringer saying 5% prestretch for VS-850 is sufficient. Any percentage applied with ur stringing machine?

I've been using 10%, but I'm considering going to 15; just did one of Sketchy's rackets and there was noticeably less chattering from the WISE with 15.

At 33 lb (these days), though, I must be pretty close to stressing it beyond the limit.

Following on from Mark's advice, I've strung this at 30lb on my JSS and it's amazing. Plenty of power for my smashes and so much control for drives and pushes. If there's a gap on the court, I'll find it.

I'm stringing mine at 28lbs but will be doing a head to head test with Mark soon so this will require 30 lbs - can't wait.

It's an awesome combination, I've had no power loss either which I'm surprised at. 5 hours with it today though and my shoulder is feeling it.

The TK6000 ate 30 for breakfast, as I recall... wonder what'll happen when it gets some real kick behind it...

I always go for my usual tension first before I choose whether to dial it down or up to compensate for the particular racket's traits

Started with my usual tension ard 25lbs n now was up to 27lbs. The string was alive n kicking at first but then it kinda died down pretty fast...so am wondering will stringing VS850 at much higher tension keep its tension constant for longer time period OR should just string 2lbs higher as was suggested in earlier posts..?

Fact is VS-850 dies fast just like 66UM. I string at 30lbs now and I still get the same problem after 5years of using it haha..you just learn to get used to it eventually.

    That's quite disheartening...lol
Ime, 66UM maintains tension better than VS850. Well, guess I should string it even higher then...nothing's perfect for long...
