Sunday December 19, 2010 The Star New Danish girlfriend fails to inspire Hee Chun to victory in the Perak Open IPOH: A new girlfriend will be an extra motivation for doubles shuttler Mak Hee Chun to get his focus right in badminton. His new love, the Danish-born Leeny Luong, turned up in Ipoh to support Hee Chun but the former world junior champion failed to impress when he did not make the semi-finals in both the men’s doubles and mixed doubles. His scratch partnership with Chan Peng Soon failed to deliver the goods as they went down 15-21, 21-15, 13-21 to Tan Boon Heong-Hoon Thien How in the last eight. In the mixed doubles, Hee Chun-Ng Paou Leng lost 17-21, 17-21 to Boon Heong-Chin Eei Hui. Lovebirds: Mak Hee Chun (right) and Leeny Luong. Hee Chun, who met Leeny while she was the liaison officer during the Copenhagen Masters in 2008, will be hoping for a change of fortune when he resumes his partnership with Tan Wee Kiong. Both Hee Chun and Wee Kiong will compete in this year’s Copenhagen Masters on Dec 27-29. “I easily lose focus especially when I am leading in a game. This is the main weakness that I need to work on,” said Hee Chun, who was quick to dismiss that Leeny was not a distraction. “She knows about the sport and is a great support for me. She is of Chinese and Vietnamese parentage. She is studying in Copenhagen and I am sure that she will be there later this month to support me.” Hee Chun-Wee Kiong take on Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen of Denmark in the opening round of the invitation event in Copenhagen next week. Malaysia will also be represented in Copenhagen by Wong Choong Hann and Liew Daren in the singles competition. #hope the new love will spur MHC to greater high...
No wonder he die die wanna go Copenhagen Masters... not bad lor... all paid by govt (tax payer's money)... BOLEH
As far as I know, all the invited players' accomodation and tickets are paid for by the organizers of the Copenhagen Masters, NOT the individual country's badminton association.
Not only MHC/TWK. Also CPS/LKW and GWS/TKS, who have not 'failed' in any majors were also not sent to MO 2011, so it can't be punishment. To make things more confusing, the pairs of Zakry/HTH and Fairuz/OSH are going to MO 2011.
The problem here I think is that MAS has too many doubles players/combination and none are up to par until the selectors themselves are also confused.
Time for them to sit back and enjoy themself watching those ' MD masters' LIVE in the stadium at work.. Hope they learn something though.
