    problem is william,
when leeChongwei won,she will say..lee chongwei is our best player
when leechongwei lost, she will say.. leechongwei waste government's money

she's hoping the best from leechongwei.everytimes.everysecond.
its her job in producing athletes that can bring glory to malaysia but she may forgot that the one who compete in the court is that athlete.not her.

i suppose she will understand,as she was an athlete once, but i was wrong

All sports come under the perview of Sports Minister, same as all health issues come under Health Ministry.
Datuk Azalina is Sports Minister, she questions, why this sports not performing, etc. NSC reports to Sports Minister.
Budget for sports is approved by Cabinet with recommendation of Sports Ministry. They are policy makers and have the power to change the workings of sports in Msia.
If not, what is the point of having a Sports Minister.

For badminton, Sports Ministry pressure NSC, NSC pressurizes BAM, the coaches and players to show they doing their job - remember a lot of 'calling up of coaches & players' after debacle at WC 2007.
Rexy was looking 'resah tentang prestasi tidak menentu anak buahnya' - in those couple of months. Lots of pressure esp on KKK/TBH and LCW. Indonesia players, according to Indonesian BCers, arent in such pressure cooker.

Same as Nicol David, LCW. Nicol just lost 2 tournaments, won 8 in 2007(a record in itself). The 2 losses - 'penjelasan' is needed to justify the $$$$ the government invest for her overseas training. <Sigh>

If I'm a parent reading that, I wont encourage my children to take up elit sports. Might as well be entrepreneur(like Ants), still earn lots of money, much less pressure.

Agree. Her job as Sports Minister is to ensure and facilitate that all sports associations/bodies are running efficiently to ensure progress and development of sports in Msia.

    My dear,

I am not in Singapore nor am I a Singaporean. I used Singapore as a model for comparison because I believe if you aspire to be the best, you compare with the best out there. Of course, I can always compare us with Sudan, Uganda, Laos, Nepal, Bhutan, Yemen which will make us look high and mighty ... ala the usual Malaysia Boleh stuff. But, lets face reality shall we?? You dont see Lee Chong Wei compare himself with some shuttler from Luxembourg or Nepal, right?? Or do you see the Brazil football team compare itself with Malaysia??

Please note that it is now 2007. We are in a global community now. And I dont see whats wrong if I bring out facts about our country. What you are telling me is to sweep things under the carpet, and is that the right solution? Sweep it all under that rug and hope and pray and pray somemore that the problems will all go away?? I quote Benjamin Franklin ; "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety."

I am sorry if my comments make you sick and wanna puke. The truth hurts. And the sooner we, Malaysians face up to it and address it, it is gonna keep hurting. And trust me, this kind of hurt wont go away. We need to own up to these issues and address it, not side step it.

And yes, you may still continue to ignore the problems and say that I am attacking Malaysia. I believe thats your choice.

What is the most popular sports in Malaysia. I would say football, agree?

Which sport body or association receive the most grant? I would say football, agree??

If thats the case, why you still see the same heads heading FAM year in, year out?? Why no explaination needed despite our national team being at the bottom of the bottom in FIFA ranking??

We just got thrashed by Vietnam 3-1 in the SEA games. Can you imagine, even Vietnam is better than us. Oh yes, we beat mighty Laos 4-0. Anyone proud of this??

Maybe I should rub it in a little .... even tiny little Singapore qualified for the WC qualifying 2nd round.

If any kids wanna venture into sports in Malaysia, take up individual sports like badminton, tennis, golf, bowling, etc.

Let me end with .... Malaysia Boleh!!

    My dear,

After thinking long and hard about things, I think you are right about me not having anything positive to say about Malaysia.

I am going to say whats good about Malaysia. So here goes:

In KKK/TBH we won the Asian Games gold after a long long long time. They also won the AE. Our badminton stars have delivered several top titles to the country i.e. our shuttlers won the PO men singles two years in a row Haifiz in 2006 and LCW 2007. Hafiz also won the AE in 2003 and was the Commonwealth Games champion in 2002. We are also great hosts i.e we hosted the WC this year. ;)

We are also doing great in other sports, in football we won the Merdeka tournament.

As for other things, I am also happy that for being in a certain group I am entitled special privileges i.e. a 7% discount should I buy a house, scholarship even if my grades are slightly above average, business grants should I decide to venture into business and other special rights.

In your PM to me, you mentioned about us being the overlords. I like that term and the benefits that comes with it.

    Malaysia Boleh!

I would say that with your articulateness and drive, channeled in the right direction.... I see no reason why yourself as an individual would not qualify in any free market for the above bolded matters.

Heard of how a teaser ad works? ;)

The core of the PM or the juicy part will of course stay private, mate.
