Li appeared not to be interested of trying, they almost list first end with opponents having two game points

She was treating the opponent with a huge amount of contempt. Eyes rolling, seeming incredibly arrogant and as though it was pointless the match even being played. As though they should have just been given the match and the opposition were just wasting her time.

It wasn't very pleasant to watch, after all the Nigerians would have put in a lot of effort to train to get there, they just don't quite have the badminton coaching system set up yet. What should have been a great and enjoyable occasion for the Nigerians was ruined in my opinion. I've never seen anything like it before, it just really annoyed me, after all these countries look as though they could go a lot further with a bit more coaching.

In contrast previous very one sided matches at the commonwealth games all players seemed to be smiling (occasionally) and having fun with the side being beaten often having a cheeky grin on there faces whenever they won a point against the "world's greatest". In fact they have been good to watch from a sportsmanship point of view.

Wooow that is shocking, dirty and sad for the opponent...disrespectful..

Gail Emms critiqued her on her Twitter...!

No chance, Susan, could easily beat Lydia Cheah, I didn't see the match, but I am pretty sure that Susan, had some left in the tank for the rest of the tournament.:)

Yes, I am sure it does sound familiar, maybe you will remember AE2010, Susan vs Lu Lan, very very close match.

Yes, plenty more to come, the current generation coming through, are imo, a lot better than the current players. Plenty to watch out for.

Yep, very experienced, and as mentioned above, gave Lu Lan a run for her money at AE2010.

Oh come on ! Don't make excuses, she lost fair and square :p you are starting to sound like, some of the atheletes when they lose :p:p

    Which one ?

    Susan Hughes=Susan Egelstaff:)

She also criticised her heavily during her commentary of the match, in fact her and the other commentator both aired their criticisms quite vocally. I hope the Canadian badminton association have a quiet word with her, or she'll realise when she watches the match back for herself. I would imagine she will come under fire from her own doubles partner as well, for basically not trying at all and nearly losing them the first game. Emms said if she ever had a partner act like that she would walk off the court and refuse to play.

I didn't see the Michelle Li match but she's still young and gaining international experience. I'm sure she and the Canadian coaching staff will erectify this issue and she will learn from her mistake and be a better player in the future.

On a positive note, M Li defeated Sinead Chambers of Northern Ireland 10 and 14 and will be playing Xing Aiying of Singapore in rd of 16.
It will be a huge boost to her if she can beat Xing Aiying. If she can get through Xing Aiying, she should have a easier match in the quarters against either Cann or Rankin but 1st she must overcome the Singapore obstacle.

Susan Egelstaff is still playing well

    .
I watched Susan Egelstaff played at our 2006 Commonwealth Games (held in Melbourne). She played skillfully and with great fighting spirit. Susan eventually won the Bronze medal in the Individual WS event here.

Now, at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, I thought the younger Lydia Cheah (MAS new hopeful) could challenge and defeat the older Susan. Fortunately, Susan is still playing well.

Perhaps Susan's experience helped her to defeat Lydia, who hasn't have enough of international tournament experience.

Today R16 match, I would say WD match had a tough task.
Goh Liu Ying/Cheah Li Ya facing Bankier Imogen, this woman is good in both WD and XD.
Chin Eei Hui/Woon Khe Wei facing #2 seed, seeing how Chin and Woon perform lah...
Koo K K/Chin Eei Hui opponent is #6 seed, but i don't think any tough.
Others should pass to QF easily.
