    The World's Youngest Professor

In the 18th century, Colin Maclaurin set a record when he was appointed professor of mathematics at 19 years and 7 months of age. That was in the year 1717. It also helped that his hiring was recommended by Isaac Newton.

In the 21st century, we have Alia Sabur.

Last year, Korea's Konkuk University hired her as a professor in its Department of Advanced Technology Fusion. When appointed, she was three days short of her 19th birthday :eek::eek:

Now you know who to call if you want to discuss nanophotonics!

It's true that both are young... but their achievements aren't exactly in the same league ;)

The current financial crisis has hit a Shanghai business tycoon with an unusual twist. The tycoon has 5 mistresses and his current dire financial circumstance would mean he could not afford all of them. He has been giving each of his mistresses a flat as free accommodation plus Y5,000/m.
He determined that his financial position now could only afford one mistress. So he decided to have a contest to choose which one he should keep. He hired a consultant from a modelling agency to help him in the selection.
The contest was held at a hotel and a winner was finally chosen. The consultant then conveyed the bad news to the first of the 4 losers, telling her that she had to leave him and also vacate the flat which will be sold by the Tycoon. Furious, she then drove off with the Tycoon and the other 4 mistresses in a car, and intentionally crashed the car, killing herself; the Tycoon and the other 4 mistresses were hospitalized. The 4 surviving mistresses, including the winner of the contest, all decided to leave the Tycoon. His wife, learning of this, left him.

    The Thousand Hand Dance:
This is an awesome dance, called the Thousand-Hand Guanyin, which is making the rounds across the net.

Considering the tight coordination required, their accomplishment is nothing short of amazing, even if they were not all deaf . Yes, you read correctly. All 21 of the dancers are deaf. Relying only on signals from trainers at the four corners of the stage, these extraordinary dancers deliver a visual spectacle that is both intricate and stirring. Its first major international debut was in Athens last year at the closing ceremonies for the 2004 Paralympics. But it had long been in the repertoire of the Chinese Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe and had traveled to more than 40 countries. Its lead dancer is 29 year old Tai Lihua, who has a BA from the Hubei Fin e Arts Institute. The video was recorded in Beijing during the Spring Festival celebrations this year.
