updated with CM and JO results Lee Chong Wai has most single titles with 14 compare with Lin Dan’s 12. Lee Chong Wai did played in 11 more tournaments, 37 instead of 26 for Lin Dan. Incredibly, the most consistent player for the last 12 months is Peter Gade. With the exception of his home tournament in Denmark last year he was into semi-final for every tournament he played, world championship included. Not bad for a thirty something! The most SuperSeries winner is Yu Yang of China, 18 titles with 4 different partners. As for men doubles, in spite of their indifferent form the top 4 are still dominant as they took 75% of the titles between them. They still cannot complete with China’s women doubles as they captured 35 out of the 44 titles with 13 different pairings.

I've copied my first post 2 years ago and updated with the latest figures, quite an interesting reading; There are some statistics as predicted and some not so obvious, for example, among the top winners (+ TH), 1) LCW with most MS titles, 19 out of the 43 played, 2) LCW is the most hard working one that played in 43 out of the 54, 3) LD is in the opposite end with 33 only, with SS, TH & SDK not far behind with 34,35 & 36 (interestingly they all from the same country), 4) LD, with 33 tournaments that he played he was in the final for 20 of them and with a winning ratio close to 40% (13/33), 5) As for LCW, a 63% chance that he will be in the final for the ones that he entered and with a winning ratio of just less than 44% (19/43), improved from 25% 2 years ago, what an accomplishment. 6) With the tournaments that both LD & LCW entered (27 of them), LD won 11 and LCW got 10. 7) The percentages for them to be in the SF or further, LCW (74%) LD (70%) PG (51%) CJ (50%) BCL (47%) and TH (37%) Very consistent overall. 8) Now for the MD, the top 4 are getting more close to the top 3 or even top 2 now. MK/HS & KKK/TBK have only managed 1 SS title between them for the last 20 tournaments. Between the top 2 they won 22 out of the 54 (40% or 2 out of the 5). Here comes the not so obvious, 9) BCL as the Mr Runner Up? Not even close! BCL with 5, and TH is the real Mr. Runner Up with 9 and LCW was not far behind with 8. 10) WYH is now the top WS winner with 10 titles that was archieved in 2.5 years. Still no major, yet. 11) The most titles won? Not LCW with 19, nor the great GL or the KOR wonderkid (-ish) LYD but YY with 22. 12) ZTT of CHN, the under achiever in some people’s mind actually got 7 titles under her belt and reigning world champion as well.
Yu Yang has a fantastic achievement . The problem with publishing figures including statistics from 4 years ago is how much can change in that time. Look at how much has changed between Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei ... their positions have been almost completely reversed in terms of domination (because Lin Dan has gotten older).
. That's why some of our BCers suggested that we should not just take into account of the past history/record of a player, but to follow the trend of his/her performance (going up or down, as we follow him/her over time). .

Both has 9 with LD missing the Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan and LCW with Denmark, China Masters and Open. Interestingly both are still unable to break new ground in enemy’s territory. LCW may be ahead here as Both Denmark and China Open are PSS thus mandatory to attend and I’m not sure LD worry too much about the missing 3. In women single Wang Yihan follow closely with 8/12, the missing 4 are Malaysia, Singapore and the two in China. Most impressive as that only took her a little over 3 years with much fierce competitions as well. Again, only one competitor has the full set of SS titles. You probably could have guessed, yes that belonged to Yu Yang. With all the SS titles plus the Olympics and twice world champion, do you think we should ask Yu Yang to step down and has an early retirement? As they say let someone else have a go. Probably not.
not really changed that much. LD is still better in terms of HtH rate. LD won TC, 2 WCs, AG while LCW won super series.
Lin has gotten older, so has Lee CW, they are about the same age but look how Lee has improved recently to catch up with Lin Dan in term of skills.
