Great play smash_master. How do you make those smashes look so effortless, and those tumbling net shots, crazy! I see you get lots of comments on your video. Great play! If only i am half as good.
kent video With regards to the Kent video - stepping back is fine but you need to have a more fluid motion in hitting the shuttle. You're kind of stopping and then going for the shuttle. I think you should move your right foot forward while hitting - this will give you the momentum needed to get to the centre of the court.
Thank you Sgbad, lol i have to make them more powerful and better angle though. thank you im pretty proud of my net shots though i still need to make better. thanks, im sure that your still a great player yourself though.
I am no where close you. You would whoop 30-0 out of me. Good luck with your new sponsor, smash_master.
im sure you would get points, and thank you i will post up a complete review on my new ZELM sponsorship later this week. keep training and post up some videos too
Zelm sponsorship? Congratulations on that! How did you end up getting sponsored by them? Anyway, you're a quality player and really deserve it, well done. On a side note, I have finally got round to emailing the manager of my local sports centre asking for permission to film there so I may finally get round to producing a video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYQFpX85A14 lol... we suck ;P too bad we can't work on improving together now... my friend moved away. new partner now... it's like starting all over again! xD
My first impression is that you're not that bad, certainly not as bad as your post made it seem. I need to watch the video more before I can give you a complete analysis but after the first time I watched it, the one thought I was left with is that you both seemed to lift your service returns quite a lot. This isn't a completely terrible thing as you could put your opponents in a position that is difficult to attack from however, playing a netshot reply to a serve certainly makes it easier for you to gain the attack. When you serve short, you should come in to the net a bit more in order to protect against a netshot return of serve. Your partner can easily cover any lifts to the rearcourt. There was a point in the video (I can't seem to find it now but it was definitely there) when you got in to the "side by side" formation in order to defend a smash and I thought you were way too deep in court - somewhere around the doubles rear service line. When defending a smash in doubles, you both should be further up, certainly no deeper than mid-court. That way, if your opponent tries to deceive you and hit a drop, you will easily be able to cover it. As it was in that video, there was no way you'd be able to run down a decent dropshot. Standing further in court and seem daunting when defending smashes but you'll get used to it. I believe you lost the point I'm talking about because the smash was too steep for you or your partner (I'm not sure who's who) to return. That's another reason why it's important to be further in - where you were standing was simply too deep to be able to reach the majority of smashes. Stand further in and you'll be able to cover smashes easier. That's about it for my first impression - I'll try and post more feedback once I've had chance to look at the video more closely.
Thanks Danstevens for the advice. didn't notice the deeper position in court as u said... that is true.. i've been having trouble with those deceptive drop shots in the past but have just improved my footwork to get there faster. But even tho i get there faster i don't feel im in the best balance i could be. btw, im the asian dude
All i can say is.. ..so, that is you?!?!..hmm, your footwork is not too bad. My guess is your opponent is a local lad??..I also notice your serve motion, which you'd have your racket head turn in an (upward) angle just prior to hitting the shuttle??. ..that's the most noticeable thing i noticed..:crying: ..and the same in your video, the white wall!!..:crying:
lol, xD here's a vid of a friend of mine playing @ UC Davis Spring 09 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0wJhJEq-MM & my amateur comments and such i found myself annoying to hear in this vid XD
I don't think so. Why do you ask? I don't know him personally and haven't seen him play but from what I've read from other BCF members, you should have reason to believe he's rather good.
It has been a while since I posted a video in this thread I had quite a few videos taken way back in may however I wasn't use to my racket and was injured through osgood schlatters However now I am back to 90% injury free and a lot better fitness and footwork (which was the big problem of the last video) So I think I will post a video of some recent play I.e. Taken tomorrow and u can see if I have improved or not
