Endurance

    What is a good way to build endurance for badminton???People have told me that coaches have them run for 25 minutes.Is there any other way that's not as tiring/boring??Thanks for anyone who answers!:)

    skipping, sprints, interval training etc. etc.

    If it's not tiring, it is probably just wasting your time.
    As Shifty said, "skipping, sprints, interval training etc. etc." would be good for building your endurance. It can be tiring, but not boring.

    playing badminton alone give me so much endurance. play a lot of one on one with someone. against someone that is very good, fast and can make you run circles in the court. thats the best way, and you still get to play badminton. most importantly, keep playing. don't stop because your tired. doing that will get you no where.

    Training can be boring in any sport, but if you were to "prove to yourself" that you have improved with your training, would that not motivate you to continue?

    Example 1: Accuracy - Singles underhand high serve

    - put four boxes (2x2) on the back center corner of the receiver's box
    - serve 100 shuttles, attempting to serve the shuttles into the boxes
    - the one box closest to the center corner has a value of 5, the other three boxes has a value of 1
    - keep a log of your serves: # shuttles in any box & total points scored
    - after 10 sessions, do you see any improvements?

    Example 2: Endurance - Footwork

    - put 8 shuttles (standing up on the skirt) in a line, 1 meter from the net, parallel to the net
    - starting from the base position, move all 8 shuttles (one shuttle at a time) to the base line, the shuttle "must rest upright" on the baseline
    - time yourself after 8 shuttles, give yourself (only) 30 second rest
    - now move all 8 shuttles back to the front, time yourself again, then 30 second rest
    - repeat for the 3rd time, timing yourself
    - any shuttle not standing upright or not on the line, give yourself one second penalty
    - keep a log, do you see any improvements after 10 weeks?

    The only way to increase your endurance is doing some form of aerobic exercise until you're tired :p Personally i swim to increase my endurance, right now i can swim 4km non stop :D. Some people say swimming isn't good for badminton because you don't do any explosive movements, i guess the kick off the 25m wall on each end will have to count...

    What i find useful about swimming is apart from increasing indurance it tones almost every muscle in your body, especially core and shoulders. Of course swimming isn't boring depending on who's around you...:p:p:p:p:p:p
