its difficult for him to shine when u consider CHN still have its top MS single players (LD, CL & CJ), and because of that, lesser opportunities for him too..

    Zhao Jianhua ? 18?

WZM does not look strong compare to LD. Maybe he's not working hard enough.

i think WZM is quite good.
if youve seen the singapore open 2012 semi finals against VA, he had superb net shots, not to mention defense and smashes.
    he'll prob win the open
    he just needs more experience

WZM is now lacking the experience and composure in these SS final matches only, once he captures his first win, the ball will start rolling.

thanks for the info, laonong. :)
wow, Zhao Jianhua should be very good back then.

without so much choice, i think WZM should be the next G after LD and CJ retire.

Yeah, Zhao Jianhua won the AE'85 at 18 or at most 19 yrs of age,at that time the de facto world championship.

Maybe Taufik at 17 or 18 also won something big?

Am I the only one who thinks that WZM redefines Men's Singles and has the potential to take it a different level? He is EXPLOSIVE and his play at times is downright SCARY.

His smashes are unbelievable quick and powerful. He seems to be able to win points in ways that nobody else can, not even Lin Dan. I often see him end points while he's jump smashing sideways. He has the court speed, net shots, and defense too. The think that strikes me the most about WZM is that he wins points in ways that I have not seen before.

He seems to play badminton differently than anybody else. I think he can redefine the way Men's Singles is played and understood. He just needs to put all the pieces together. When he loses, it seems like he loses to his own unforced errors rather than the strategy and talent of the opponent.

Maybe he just needs time to put his game together, especially his mental and tactical game.

I'm starting to lose faith in this guy though.

i saw him playing at china league with lin dan a few times, and he play with lin dan very closely. he seem to not know the proper tactic to play at best. he should deliver this year and that one year is enough for us to wait.

Very interestingly, I just watched WZM win a Men's Doubles match in CBSL with Zheng Bo.

It was very entertaining, as WZM was a fairly good doubles player. He showed a good smash, great speed, and good net play. I'm quite surprised that they put WZM ( a singles player) in a doubles match, and with Zheng Bo of all people!

In in the post match interview after the China Open MS Final, WZM said: "Everyone is different. I don't train as hard as Chen Long. So I don't play as well as Chen Long in many competitions."

    Young man, wake up

Huh,he actually said that?! Just when I'm beginning to like him more and think he's really talented and will continue to do better and better from now on. In the match vs Chen Long in the CHN Open Final, I was so impressed. I think LYB will give him a piece of his mind when he comes to know about it.:(:mad:

If he is trying to find excuses for loosing, JYC should twist his ears and LYB should spang his butts. If it is self-criticism like what used to happen in the Red Guards era then he better come good and start to train very much harder. Otherwise it is one year 's hard labour for him in the remotest area of China, breaking rocks with a sledge hammer everyday and carrying them up a hill to build dam to help irrigate the fields of the poor farmers.
