hi there...newbie to www.badmintoncentral.com. jus picked up badminton 3mths ago after a 10 yr break.

I jus had my AT600 re-stringed at Gala Sports in Q'way, with BG85, 24lbs, yesterday.

I got my AT600 there too with BG66 at 24lbs as well. Think they are pretty decent and did it in 45mins.

Was think of Chua Beng, but have to wait a few days...since i need it the same day, so went back to Gala. $18 all in...

do you mean the full 45 min was spent on the restringing? or did you leave your racket there for 45 min before you collected?:)

the guy there asked me to collect my racket in 45mins. when i went back in 45mins, the racket was already restringed.

so the restringing took less than 45mins. think the guy there jus want to play safe, in case he got held up by other stuff.

anyway, there's 3 guys there doing the restringing, so its quite efficient, with another 1 or 2 person looking after the store. unlike Chua Beng, only 1 guy runs the shop, including restringing...

My first restring at Gala Sports was done by their daughter, probably no older than 12 years old. A 26lbs request turned out to be like 22lbs. :crying:

    Lol :D:D, same same experience..

Was asked them to string it to 28lbs and they reply "see whether can go to this tension anot", but at the end the max is only 25-26lbs. Ask is it whether 28lbs and returned with a loud reply, Yes, it is 28 bounds. Since then not going back to this shop eventhough can get it back in same day.:cool:

Wow...I think I would freak out if it was a 12 year old doing my re stringing...even worse if the racket was a high end one!!

Hasn't happen to me yet but I won't know. I did find the string job done at Gala to vary quite a bit in terms of playability. I used Gala only if I buy a racket from them - Queensway SC is a bit out of the way for me.

I stuck with Classic Sports since I prefer Soh's stringing. Case in point, my ZELM got restrung to 28lbs (again) and I was smashing like a madman last evening (once the string got broken into).

Yup, Soh is an experienced stringer, very efficient plus adding wax to the strings.

But I find the strings tend to run a bit after a few games, is it due to the loss of the wax?

again, thank you guys for your help. :)

What tension did you string it at and if the mains and crosses are the same tension? The reason why I ask is that he seems to discourage stringing at tension 2 lbs lower in the mains; btw I get the same problem of string moving too; I string mine at 24lbs

I didn't Mr. Soh ask specifically. Usually my friend helped me bring my racquet to Classic sports.

I know what you mean, it takes longer to strung 4 knots, which is different tension in the cross and main. He strung 2 knots using the calibrated machine, hence should be equal in the cross and main.

Mine used to be 24lbs like yours, now I feel that I graduated to 25-26lbs:D.

same here, i have to admit his stringing gives the most repulsion and power, so much so my elbow hurts :D

For Classic Sports customers, which method do you request for? normal or 'tight' method?
